REST IN PEACE, FALLEN BROTHER!

Sgt. Marcos Gorra, USA, KIA Afghanistan 21FEB2010

I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)

God Of Our Fathers

Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in peace!
We who remain hold you in high honor.
Rest, fallen brother, in this sacred precinct;
We who remain keep this place sacred.
Rest, fallen brother, among these, your comrades;
We who remain keep the watch.
Rest, fallen brother, among these who answered the Nation’s call;
We who remain press the fight forward in your name.
Rest, fallen brother, lay down thy burden;
We who remain have taken up the torch.
Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in eternal peace!

I know I’ve read “Just Checking In” a few times before, but it never fails to cause reflection and tears with a reminder for me to Just Check In.

Thanks for the message.

Thanks for the ODB message today, Rus. It has produced multiple thoughts and reflections.

First, it reminds me of my first trip on an airplane(s). A yute of 18 I boarded a United Airlines flight in Spokane with stops and plane changes in Pendelton, OR, Portland, OR, San Francisco and finally San Diego resulting in 2 1/2 months of boot camp. I did indeed belong to the Navy from the moment I raised my right hand and took the oath (which has no expiration date) and later 15 of us boarded the bus in the late night hours 30Sept63 in San Diego for Recruit Training Command aka Boot Camp.

Next was the words from Clayton’s song, Now I Belong to Jesus. Special words and meaning since I raised my hand in Jr. church class during the invitation prayer to accept Jesus as my personal Savior at the age of 5. The following years of my life added to that relationship that I belong to Him and He belongs to me. Fulfillment will be when I meet him face to face. Posting those words caused me to break out in song with those words and music committed to memory and in my heart long ago.

Thanks again, Rus for your ODB Ministry.

"I wouldn't want to wake up to that!"

They ARE scary, Pandy!
Their bottom teeth (fangs) are razor sharp
They have a keen sense of smell
But their vision is VERY limited, thank God!

There is no way to get rid of javelina.
They are a 'protected' species.
They are very destructive
And dig up plants and bulbs
The especially love TULIP bulbs!

I used to throw out 'chicken scratch' for them
Until the boar tried to break in my door for SECONDS.

Guess they never learned the old saying,
"Never look a gift horse in the mouth"!

(Not that I'm 'horsey, or anything....)

Good Morning...off to our local quilt show, I have door duty 10-1 pm today. We are selling tickets for our Breast Cancer Quilt $1.00 for this year. Show is free. We raised $1,000 last year for Breast Cancer and some one took home a beautiful queen sized quilt.

Have a Blessed day every one

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:
http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html
This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

http://www.navytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w/

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Strength In Weakness
Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. —Matthew 20:26

No one wants to be weak, so we find ways to appear strong. Some of us use the force of our emotions to manipulate people. Others use the force of personality to control people, and some use intellect to intimidate. Although these create an illusion of strength, they are signs of weakness.

When we are truly strong, we have the courage to admit our limitations and to acknowledge our dependence on God. As a result, true strength often looks a lot like weakness. When the apostle Paul prayed that an affliction would be taken from him, God answered, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9). Paul responded with these troubling words: “When I am weak, then I am strong” (v.10).

Toward the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry, some of His disciples were striving for positions of prominence. Jesus used their argument as an opportunity to teach them that in His kingdom things are different: greatness comes when we willingly assume positions of weakness (Matt. 20:26).

This is a hard truth. I prefer the illusion of strength to the reality of weakness. But God wants us to realize that true strength comes when we stop trying to control people and start serving them instead.

The life that we live for God’s glory,
Let’s live it in biblical light:
God’s strength is made perfect in weakness;
He alone controls power and might. —Branon

God’s greatest power can be displayed in our biggest weakness.

The Soldier

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is forever England. There shall be
In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam;
A body of England's, breathing English air,
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.
And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.
