The 'best evers' have been mentioned... but someone who I think has an amazing voice (although certifiably insane) is Sinead O'Connor.

Aside of her more popular songs, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard is a song named 'One more day' (The funeral song) from the movie soundtrack of 'Veronica Guerin'.

Many will argue with this, but I think Lee-Ann Rimes deserves to be on the list if just for her pipes. “Blue” was a song to remember.

Judith Durham...she had solo career at times but her best work was with the Seekers.

Forgot Karen. Simply natural voice. I know folks will probably spit, but Pink’s natural voice ability reminds me a lot of Karen. Both have voices that just flow.

“...Freddie Mercury...”
LMAO!

And he said it with such a straight face.
I've gotta' add Roberta Flack, though (she kills me softly).

I was no Celine Dion fan until I obliged my wife and got tickets to one of Celine’s last shows at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas. The show choreography was a little weird to me, but her live voice was awesome.

“...As far as vocals go, Karen Carpenter could out-sing anyone. I defy someone to find a better vocalist....”

You’re right about KC. A close second would be Alison Krauss. Sings like an angel.

BTW, John Wayne wanted her to costar in True Grit. He thought she would have been great in the role that Kim Darby had. He never got along with Darby.
