Perhaps her name wasn’t Melissa or maybe he misspelled it.

Nah, a woman doesn’t respond like that unless she’s said no before—and likely as well has told him already to stop asking.

I guess she should have married him to save him the embarrassment. From the look of things, it looks to me like he had discussed marriage with her before and she had some reservations. He was trying to get her to say “yes” to avoid public embarrassment. I can’t believe the folks her dogging the woman like that.

She actually looks quite beautiful, he looks like the dud—and I bet he’s already been told no by her over and over.

And that will get an icing call.

If she had been a nice girl - she would have pretended to accept and had a talk with him afterwards. There’s just no reason to publicly humiliate someone.
For the record, I hate those public proposals.

There’s just no reason to publicly humiliate someone. You're correct. He shouldn't have done that to her!

Never publically ask a question you when you don’t already know the answer. She looked about 2 levels above him anyway.

Agree. No different a strategy than for an attorney at trial.

Fat. Both of them. Their children would have been best used as sources for butter.

Or maybe take him to another game and have the board flash HELL NO HELL NO HELL NO and only those two would have known what it meant.

Yeah. . .How dare he ask her. . I mean, come on, she was raking in the attention, letting that poor schmuck pay for everything, riding the gravy train. . .heck. . .he ruined it by asking for commitment and forced an end to the free stuff.

For some reason, I always detested those public marriage proposals. Just strikes me as wrong.
If I did do it, I would make darn certain what the answer was going to be before I asked. In fact I would make certain the girl knew it was going to happen before hand.
Yes. I have always thought these things to be trite. Besides this should be one of those private moments even if there is certainty that the proposal will be accepted.
There's too much of Hollywood invading real life.
