Woman fined for flossing while driving

A police spokesman said a 36-year-old woman was caught flossing her teeth while driving 70 mph on a motorway in Wales.

The spokesman, whose identity was not released, said the woman was fined $91 after police officers spotted her allegedly flossing her teeth and looking in her vehicle's rear view mirror, all while she was speeding along on the M4 motorway, The Sun said Saturday.

"We've caught women applying lipstick and makeup and men using an electric razor on their way to work," the spokesman said of the recent incident.

"But this is the first time we've seen someone flossing their teeth. It's particularly dangerous because you need to use both hands."

It definitely takes two hands to floss, but that leaves her elbows free for steering.

Case closed.

I steer with my knees when I’m driving and flossing.

My favorite driving and doing other things while driving story was when I saw a guy in LA on the Santa Monica shaving and driving. Not with an electric razor, but with a face full of foam shaving cream and a little yellow Bic razor.

I almost drove off the freeway laughing.

Laughing and almost driving off the freeway, while driving, can be hazardous to one's health.

I worked in DC for 5 years and drove in on the beltway every morning. Oh, the stories I could tell, people driving down the road with newspapers, laptops, files etc. propped up on the steering wheel. People changing cloths. People turned 180 toward the back seat, sorting through papers. It really is amazing that their aren't more accidents.

OK, I’ll cut out the laughing and driving.

{{{{I confess to being a flossing addict and flossing while driving}}}} But with the little floss picks, you can do it with one hand easily.

I use an electric razor all the time while driving. I don’t use the mirror or anything - just kind of roam around my chin for awhile. When I get to where I’m going I look in the mirror for some touch up. Probably safer than changing a CD on the road.

I can’t stand using the cell phone while driving - even with a headset. Once in awhile after a call I’ll think “Wow - this is where I am already?” (Okay, I’ll admit it. On road trips while going through North or South Dakota I have been known to give folks a call just for the diversion.)

I NEVER have propped a newspaper or book up on the wheel though. See that a few times on the road trips, and once in awhile in rush hour traffic too!

Last summer I saw a teen-aged girl driving a stick-shift convertible with three other passengers. She was smoking and using a cell phone.

Is that steering wheel upside down and is he making a high speed 90 degree turn while writing?

I’m glad she wasn’t doing something else with the “stick shift” while driving.

At least, her corpse would have had perfect teeth.
