Talk about Industrial Strength Stupid...
As an aside if one fills a few balloons with this mixture, ties them to a stake, and shoots them with tracer rounds the result is rather impressive.

After WW-2 we used to buy weather baloons at the Surplus store, fill them with oxygen/acetylene, put a long fuse on them and release them at dusk at evening rush hour and blow out a lot of windows when it went off at about 10,000’.

We used to fill a pipe up with the stuff and leave one end open. When the boss would pass by some guy would light it off and he would always jump about five feet straight up.
Eventually we got tired of it.

I seem to recall filling glass bottles with calcium carbide rocks, catching the fumes (acetylene?) in balloons, putting the balloons in a big paper bag, taking the bag to Mom’s school dumpster and lighting it ... I mean, um, wow, what a dream I had!
