Video about Cat/puppy love goes viral
About three years ago, Sonya Kelly brought home a puppy that she and her then-boyfriend rescued off the street. She introduced the dog to her two older cats, and the bond between the three of them became immediately apparent. Kelly was so touched by the outward displays of affection that she decided to cobble together some video footage and upload a montage to YouTube.
Three years later, the video has gone viral, thanks in part to the blog Cute Overload, and the clip has belatedly and surprisingly racked up more than 1.6 million views.
“It’s exciting! It really is,” Kelly tells PEOPLEPets.com. “When I was making it, it was a personal thing. I really didn’t think people would get it, but they got it. They felt what I was trying to portray. That meant a lot to me.”
Kelly was a guest at a wedding in Hollywood when she and the other guests heard a commotion outside on busy Hollywood Boulevard. The puppy was being dragged across the sidewalk by a woman trying to sell him. Kelly’s then boyfriend, horrified, asked if she wanted to take him home, and she said yes.
“After I said I wanted him, all of a sudden, other guests at the wedding said, ‘I want him! I want him!’ Nobody had wanted him before that, but eventually people backed off,” Kelly says. “Once I had him, he was my baby. I fell in love with him right away.”
She was worried that the puppy might be sick, given the circumstances, but she felt it was more important to get the dog out of the situation. The next morning, she took him to a vet, and happily, the dog was healthy just in need of food and love.
Kelly named him Lucky and showed him to her now-13-year-old cats, Misty and Lexy. “Misty just immediately thought he was her kitten and started licking him and mothering him.” Lexy followed suit, and the two have slept and cuddled together ever since.
Lucky started out as a spontaneous purchase on a crowded sidewalk, and ended up being an unexpected blessing. “To me, he’s worth a billion dollars.”

Why is it so herky-jerky? The movie stops every several seconds or so ....
He saying, “You taste that? I just had some more Almond Roca from the cat’s litter box. Pretty good huh?”

Adorable. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it.

Awww, that’s so cute.
My kittehs have never seen a dog since they’ve been mine, but I once bought a huge English Sheepdog stuffed animal (really, life sized), and when I brought it home, all the cats disappeared, hissing. A few days later, they were disemboweling its feet and sleeping on it.
Their cattitude is “Everything here is a cat toy.”
I’ve had cats and dogs all my life, but never any like the video dog and cats. That’s amazing.
My cats and dogs would tolerate each other, but that’s about it.
Oh, I’m sorry you’re having trouble with it.
It operating perfectly when I viewed it.
You really should see this. :)
Have you ever introduced them as puppies and kittens? Don’t they get along if they were raised together? Pure hearsay on my part — no personal experience.
