Yesterday i was online reading the news. I spotted a picture of Obama and his wife Michelle-a waist up profile not full front face.
The pic was almost half light & half dark and you had to look closer.The picture wasn't especially flattering of Michelle , in fact, if you didn't know what she looked like you would have mistaken her for someone else. Her hair was pulled back severely and knotted in a tiny- tiny pony tail at the back of her head. The shadows on her face were severe and she was wearing a white sleeveless tank top accentuating her sloping shoulders and sagged bustline.
In the foreground next to her was Obama and the way the pic was taken light played all over his face. In the profile and he looked about 20 years younger than he actually is. He was smiling and you could tell that Michelle was listening to what he had to say. Her head bowed as shadows encompassed her cheeks which accentuated her cheekbones and made her look as a old woman.
A short & sharp intake of breath , I gasped,I looked at this picture a little longer than usual because this man was so young looking and then i understood something weird.
In this flash I saw the complete psychological profile of their marriage. He married a woman who is his psychological black mother he never had but he chooses to live and relate on his own twisted terms. Within this complicated set of psychological choices I then understood the reality of his bisexuality.
When i had first read of his being on the down-low i would just chuckle and laugh to myself. Obama lacks in many areas as POTUS and i never wanted to pile my own karmic debt any higher by believing that he WASN'T straight;anyway, why should i care?.
Whomever said "a picture is worth a thousand words" is right. You should have seen what I saw..........

He is a boy. I thought that picture was one of him as a little boy until I saw the SS agents. He seems like a petulant child to me.

i’m not much of a writer and this was a monmumental task in re-constructing what i perceived and understood in a flash of milliseconds.i wish i had saved that little pic to include it with the thread. A moving revelation? not really just haunting-that ‘s why i posted the thread. I think your observations are on target about the bamsters behavior,too.
Miss DairyGoodness. Thank you for this post. I saw the photo as well and my first reaction also was how old she looked and thought how angry she would be when she saw this photo since she goes to such incredible extremes to look beautiful. But I guess the FLOTUS position is getting a little old and she’s probably weary of sitting for the hairdresser and makeup artist and having clothes fitted everyday...so she let her guard down to become au naturale. I didn’t go into quite the psychological exploration as you but I indeed noticed how old she looked and he appeared younger. I do agree with your assessment.
i can see your point about psychological twaddle. i don’t want my karmic debt any higher than it already is....i wrote about what i perceived ,that’s all, it’s not a full time habit or career.
So what did she look like 18 years ago when he married her? Your psychoanalysis makes no sense based on what she looks like in 2010. The woman had 2 kids, which can age anyone.

Is it his lack of class that bothers you. What about her getting into the presidental limo in shorts - that was some photo as well.
what i wrote was not about chronological physical ageing. it is about a small picture of the ‘bamster and his wife and what the photograph revealed to me psychologically,that’s all. i’m not saying i’m correct either, it’s my perception.

Unlike many responders here, I do believe in the potential for sudden insight, coming unexpectedly upon one insignificant event, after constant observation. Zen practitioners, I believe, would call it “Satori.”
Certainly, Barack and Michelle are an odd couple. Bill and Hillary Clinton are each one half a whole political animal, while George and Laura both seemed to share a world-view that has its roots in West Texas.
I can’t say if Michelle is a “mother” to Obama, but she does represent Obama’s attempt to find his “blackness” - which is why he went to Chicago in the first place after his time spent at Ivy Leagues. She’s South-side Chicago, friend and neighbor to Jesse Jackson, solid blue-collar family life. What a perfect trophy wife she is for a ethnically confused, elitist, community organizer and aspiring politician seeking to define his minority roots.
This is the kind of mindless psycho-babble nonsense I would expect to read on DU regarding GWB or some other disliked republican or conservative.

But you were describing her physical characteristics, in particular her appearance of her aging compared to obama. Seems silly not to get their wedding photo and see if she looks old or not. Doesn’t make sense to look at her appearance today unless you think obama has the ablity to time travel.
