Science fiction has been a television staple for the past 60 years. And of the thousands of episodes that have been produced in that time, we've chosen 10 of the most memorable, transcendent hours of sci-fi TV -- the best the genre has to offer. As always, your mileage may vary, but if you wanted to show an alien civilization how we feel about our own tomorrow -- as well as how we view ourselves today -- these episodes are a good place to start.

"My all-time favorite X-Files episode was "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space.'""
"What the bleep."
x2, I laugh every time I see this episode, it has Alex Trebec and Jesse Ventura guest starring. How do you beat that??

The missed the most poignant
Twilight Zone episode, one to share with your kids when you seek to explain the inner worlds of despots. It was one of the hour-long episodes --
On Thursday we leave for home. The closing narration is unforgettable:
William Benteen, who had prerogatives; he could lead, he could direct, dictate, judge, legislate. It became a habit, then a pattern, and finally a necessity. William Benteen; once a living God, now a population of one.

gotta put Star Trek's The Doomsday Machine in there somewhere.
Absolutely! And if you have the better part of an hour to spare, perhaps you might enjoy the 'New Voyages' which take that concept and develop it further, William Windom actually reprises his role as Commodore Matt Decker, and no less than Eugene Roddenberry Jr. was consulting...

I really always liked The Measure of a Man as my favorite TNG episode. It had some huge holes in it but I loved it as well.

My favorite is “The Changeling”, if only to watch Catain Kirk outlogic Nomad.
Any list is incomplete without Babylon 5, Stargate, Night Gallery or The Prisoner.
Also, a tip of the hat is in order for one of the originals, Captain Video.

I don't particularly agree with the choices. As this isn't really a 10 best, but 10 best series with their best episodes featured, I'll stick with commenting on the Treks.
In Star Trek classic, my favorites were Mirror, Mirror (Bridge officers swapped on a beam up into an inverse universe) and The Trouble with Tribbles (which was another one written by Harlan Ellison).
In STNG, my favorite was Timescape (Enterprise stuck in a portion of space where time is running at different rates in different places), the other was (I forget the title) where Worf gets back from a tournament on his birthday and begins jumping through alternate universes. STNG is much harder to decide about - in the last two seasons all of the episodes were superb TV.

A lot of B5 or SG1 is better than a lot of garbage that has been produced. Buffy was tolerable and I wished Lost had gotten some more of the island’s backstory done. Lost did have some good episodes.

Great episode!
When I was working a summer construction job as a teenager back in the 80s, there was this guy everyone called fuzzy. He was about 5’5, 300 lbs, and flat out weird. According to him, he had won Vietnam, led Isreali Commandos, met Golda Meir, and a ton of other stuff that I have forgotten.

Will have to watch that one. Old TZ and OL were pretty good and still better than a lot of stuff now, esp. from a plot and writing standpoint.

I gave up on DS9 a long time ago. After reading the summary, I may have to get a hold of this episode.
