A book detailing the first 40 years of the UK's foreign intelligence service has been published.
Author Professor Keith Jeffery was given access to the archives at MI6, which has the official title of the Secret Intelligence Service.
Prof Jeffery said that in researching MI6: The History of the Secret Intelligence Service 1909-1949 he was allowed to view all files.
He said his only restriction was not to name some traitorous agents.
Among the controversial files he was able to study was an account of MI6 agents sabotaging ships due to carry Jewish refuges to the then British Mandate of Palestine, immediately following the end of World War II.

I clearly recall my aunt asking what I wanted for my (8th) birthday. I immediately responded: “I want a real M16.” I wasn’t effin kidding either.

On most Thursdays @ 2200 on PBS there is an excellent drama program called “MI-5,” about Britain’s Security Service, sort of equivalent to our FBI/Homeland Security. They often interact with MI-6 and the CIA station in London.
“He said his only restriction was to not name some traitorous agents” Hmmmm., wonder why? Who,still living, are these people? “Treachery”, Chapman Pincher, 2009, names names, of those dead. Why the cover up. The enemy knows who was spying for them.
OPPS_ Pincher covers mostly MI5, but the question is the same. Why cover for traitors, as the Gov’t did with Blunt for 30yrs

MI5 is a darn good series.
Agree, but add commie sympathizers, which was as common from the beginning of the 30’s depression cold war info beginning to drip out due to FOIA in US and Britain
