Did your watering hole/tavern have food?
I know it did.
Some of the best food in the world is found in Ohio/Penn Taverns
Dittos on the Yuengling! We didn't have it of draft much...sigh. Rolling Rock was OK too, until they got bought out and moved. Isn't the same now.
WPA tavern food IS THE BEST! Still a few mom and pop places around but they are fading fast!
When I get home I'm going to see if I have a pic of the place on my computer. If I do I'll post it.
I had a pulled leg of lamb sangwich with fries and fried italian greens a few years back at a tavern up there with a sam adams beer.
The lunch was like $4.99 it was basically leftovers from the night before.
It was stunningly good!
Made with love.
I still think about how good that was.
We don’t have those taverns down here in Texas
Thanks Frog! Mausers and Muffins! Thats it!
Book marked.
We are from the same neck of the woods.
You WPA me EOH, 14 mi from WPA
Gotta dig Guy Fieri. He’s the most recent commercial spokesperson for my new employer.
I like the competition programs on FN, Chopped, Next Food Network Chef, Great Food Truck Race and who can not help but like Guy Fieri. He seems to have so much fun.
And say what you will about Ina, but her recipe for roast chicken stuffed with lemons on a bed of caramelized onions and crisp croutons is magnificant.
Boombahs closed years ago *weep* where is a guy to find a plate of perogies?
Sandra Lee is Andrew Cuomo’s live-in...
Looks like it may be the same gal as on mausers and muffins.
She has a good gig going on.
There is a surprise LoL.
They deserve each other.
Couldn't find the pics I wanted from the Local Watering Hole but I did find this poor cellphone pic of bartender/cook Char at her last birthday party. All the regulars got together and had a wing ding for her.
She passed shortly afterward. At the far end of the bar is a very good friend, Dale. He and I used to watch the "cowboy" shows all day after the cooking shows got old. Dale passed earlier this year. Of all the regulars I'm about the only one left and since the place has closed the ones who are still around have scattered.
There are a few m&p places we find each other at but none is the same as the old Stratmore Cafe.
I don’t know the place, but I would love it there.
These are the places I love.
honest people, honest food
Tell me something.
You ever had a potato pizza? with the white sauce and garlic fried Italian greens covered with romano cheese?
A lot of the older folks I know back home have lost their hangouts, so... they cook at home and invite the neighbors and friends.
Thats the best bit of a lot of that cooking anyway.
Laughing and having a good time
