There just might be a bunch of flamingos that show up in your yard overnight

Families in Washougal may be waking up to a yard full of pink flamingos between now and Nov. 23.

That's because Washougal High School Grad Night Parents are trying a new fund-raiser this year.

The flock of roosting flamingos can be removed at no charge within 48 hours, however, recipients can also request a yard for the birds to migrate to next. For a suggested donation of $20, the Grad Night parents will move the flamingos to the yard of your choice -- perhaps an unsuspecting friend or neighbor. Not interested in having the flamingos at all? No problem. Insurance is available for $5 to guarantee there will not be a flocking at your home.

Grad Night parents, who are assuming the role of flockers, want to assure the community that no unsupervised students will be participating in this activity and that this fund-raiser is intended to be all in fun and has no malicious intent at all.

Um, a bunch of kids coming on my land in the dark of night, with a bunch of unidentifiable but large objects in their hands are going to be on the receiving end of warning shots and “Get off my land!” at the very least.

Cute idea - if done with discernment!

Yard with kids’ bikes, big o’l dog dish, and a slip-n-slide = go ahead and prank.

Carefully manicured and professionally landscaped yard with motion sensor lights = move along.

Of course, our schools with their “zero-tolerance” policies know nothing about exercising discernment, so I predict that this idea will, unfortunately, go terribly wrong...

They put something in my yard & I have to pay to have it removed???

Um, no, according to the first sentence in paragraph 3: "The flock of roosting flamingos can be removed at no charge within 48 hours"

No no. It works like this. A friend, if you have any, or an enemy, pays to have your yard flamingo-ed. If you don't want to play, they remove them no charge. If you want to play, you send the flamingos on to your enemies (or friends) yard, but they might have bought insurance just in case, so you might just send the flamingos to a random stranger.......it's all good fun.

".......it's all good fun."

A concept lost on quite a few around here.

Off topic, nice FReep page! I took the political view test, one of the best I have taken, actually made me think!

Why, thank you. I've been meaning to update with photos from my recent hunting trip to Colorado and Montana, but it really had escaped my mind.

I see that you are not quite as far right as I am ... I'm glad you enjoyed the test.

Yes! More hunting photo's please! Also, I was surprised that I wasn't as far right as I thought I was, at least for this test. Some of the question I thought were very.....leading, and there were more direct ways to ask them. But all in all I thought it very interesting. I especially liked the rankings at the end and how it could be broken down by demographics and category. Take care.

My German Shepherd will help - the neighbors have a pink flamingo in their backyard, and they let my dog out to play once in a while. The first think he does is attack the flamingo and pull it up by its neck, carrying it around like a prize. It never fails to crack them up - wish we had video.
