Florida Election Day Thread
Nov. 2 2010 | Bowtie

Posted on 11/02/2010 5:28:09 AM PDT by Bowtie52

Voting in Central Florida was quite a sight when the polls opened at 07:00. Still dark, the voting place was a local library. At the door was a poll watcher who had been doing this for twenty plus years, he commented that he had never seen a line form in this quiet, semi bedroom community. He was happy to see a couple of voters show up, per hour, throughout the day during elections past. When the polls opened, there were twenty plus people, already in line to vote. The system went smoothly and everyone had an eye toward anything that might be out of place. ACORN would have a hard time surviving at this polling place, the best they will be able to do is to corrupt the votes later.

Obama’s name was frequently used in vain. Comments, among the voters while waiting in line, were rather crude but all were there in response to the dictator want-to-be. If the rest of Florida has motivation and turn out like this, the tsunami will start here.

I got that same call. Was sorry Dole wasn’t really on the phone so I could give him a piece of my mind. Altho, when you think about it, it makes sense for a guy named after a pineapple to support a guy the color of an orange.

Just got back. Turnout HEAVY for this time of day. Never seen it like this! Long line, people taking parking spots as soon as the next voter leaves. Heavy conservative area.

May G-d Help us!

We went just after 7 this morning. Had to wait in line. 30 people in a small back office of a real estate business plus poll workers. Steady flow.

There was a man in our polling place who said he didn’t receive his ballot too. They were still talking with him by the time we left.

Just got back from voting here in Central Fla.. When I got there it was about 20 people, but the man at the door said they had 90 people waiting early this morning. Traffic looked to be picking up as I left. I am in a small town. When I was in the lobby to vote, a black lady was sitting there and asked me how long it would take to vote there. I said no more than fifteen mins. She said she just came from Orlando and HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR ON HER FRIEND TO VOTE, THERE WAS SUCH A LONG LINE! The couple behind me said "Wow! People are really ticked!" The black lady said "Yes they are." The couple said LOUDLY "We are voting out socialism and communism." I marked my ballot with the black fill-in pen and fed it into the machine and went home. All w ent smoothly. I felt very good about what I heard there and what is to come. I drove home and will now be partying. Get ready for a blow-out today.

I voted last Thursday at around 2:45pm at the city Library in Ormond Beach FL in Volusia County. Had to drive around a little to find a spot, and empty spots were filled almost as soon as they were emptied.

Inside , while standing in line to wait for my turn, the conversation between the ladies working the sign in was pretty funny from “Is it EVER gonna slow down?” to “I’ve never seen it like this!!”.

I almost got into it with the lady who finally did wait on me when she tried to ask for “additional” ID besides my DL AND Voter’s Registration Card.

Ouickly, with a very serious and very stern look starring straight into her eyes, I replied in my best and fairly loud (and have fooled friends with over the phone) “ghetto” dialect:

“Well if I knowed ya’ll was gonna axe me dat I needed dat, I wuda brung my light bill!!”

... with the “light bill” being previously the ONLY ID required and was easily accepted as voting ID in certain parts of the city of Daytona Beach voting area,( which is THIRTY EIGHT PERCENT BLACK ) so they would not be “disenfranchised”.

She immediately got the hint as the focus of pretty much the whole room (and ESPECIALLY her fellow workers on either side of her) QUICKLY turned to HER and me.

Redfaced, she suddenly returned my ID and let me sign my name. By how uppity she acted, and knowing I was a registered Republican, I can bet you ANYTHING from her actions that she was a dem and it felt great to embarsss her.

I voted and my ballot went into the reader with out a problem. The counter on the machine, which had been in use since Monday, read 4883.

The couple behind me also said “This is a referendum against Obama.”

Classic!

Ya gotta love those Volusia County Democrats! Especially Daytona. You should have reported her. But seeing her red faced didn’t hurt!

Yhere was a very heavy turnout in my precinct where I was poll watching this morning.

There was a steady stream since 7 am. A poll worker told me that the oldest voter (so far) was 98.

The seniors are coming out en masse. It brought tears to my eyes to see them coming in with walkers & canes.

The Greatest Generation is answering the call to save the American Dream!

Looks like the GOTV effort is producing great results.....PRAY & VOTE....Julie

Good afternoon. I hope you are doing well.

The First lady says hi.

Went by four polling places in Pasco. Once in the morning, and once a few minutes ago. The only word that describes what we saw is, "jammed." And I mean jammed!

Methinks we will have to watch the state run media talking heads tomorrow. I have never seen a real suicide committed on TV before.

Electronic touch screen machines need to be outlawed. Too much room for tampering and fraud. Here in Idaho, we get a paper ballot, with ovals next to the name that we color in with a felt tip pen. They had them in Texas, when I was stationed there in '92 and '96. Hard to monkey with them.

I always heard that rain favors Republican turnout and disfavors dummycrap.

Same here! I just drove past 3 precincts and one had a lot of cars and the other 2 were packed! In the pouring down rain! I'm headed to my precinct in just a few minutes as a "Pouring Down Rain Voter."

Would love to have voted against Grayson (if I lived in his district)

Lets just say, I am currently relishing voting AGAINST the reviled Grayson. Taking my time, doing a little FReeping, sipping a little libation, until I saunter down to the precinct and say BAM!!! You're OUT Jerkwads!!!

It would be worth savoring. In fact, I would be tempted to take a cell phone picture of it to save for posterity! Enjoy!
