It seems as though connection problems to FR are becoming more and more common as of late.

Beyond frustrating!

FR has been having performance issues for about the last month.

I think the extra attention due to the situation in Tuscon is making it even worse.

Kind of too bad, since the Left is trying to make it seem that the whacko is a Tea Party guy when the objective facts make it clear he is a Left-wing commie who wanted revenge for the Congresswoman voting against his left-wing agenda.

I hope John gets it going back to normal mode soon.

And that reminds me — time to donate (and JR has NEVER held performance as an incentive!).

Yes, it's frustrating, but as always, the problems are being addressed as always!
John is working as fast and thoroughly as he can. Please bear with us.
We all hate it, too. Trust me, our FReepathon lags when the forum lags!!!

Last night, Jim wrote,

I have no idea. Last time it was a problem in the database. The time before that a server fried. More than once its been DOS attacks. This one looks like some sort of logjam.

Im sure John will get it cleared up eventually, but this is a huge complex multi-server, multi-user system with lots of hardware and software that all has to mesh perfectly to work at maximum performance levels.

Somethings always going to snap. Never know when or what or if its natural or DOS. Lots of people hate us and would love to see us go belly-up.

War is hell. So are computer systems. If it can go wrong it will.

FREEPERS ROCK!!!

WE ARE STILL ONLINE!!!

Its slow at my home connection, and sometimes at the office.
No other websites are slow (home or office),
so it must be server related.
I’m running mozilla and usually have 6 or 8 web pages open.
All others respond quickly, not free republic.
Bummer.....

I think they’re under cyberattack (forces of evil), or the bandwith is overloaded in my situation. Keep the faith!

This site is basically unusable now. Too bad, I’ve had a great time here for many years but maybe it’s time to move on now...

Something has been up with FR for about six months. I have figured that there are some hackers connected with more liberal sites make it a point of honor to mess with this site as much as possible. There don’t seem to be as many users as before, so maybe the server is bogged down with malware.

Seemed like the problems started the other day, (immediately) following Duncan Hunter’s online live interview thread.

Almost to the minute.

I figured it’s Chicom hackers, trying to keep people from reading what Congressman Hunter had to say about trade policy, and China.

When you’re not sure if it’s just you, try this site:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=0h&oq=down&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4SUNA_enUS291US291&q=down+for+everyone+or+just+me

It’s actually called “Down for everyone or just me?”

Regards,

The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I think it is time to use some Freeper cash to trade in the TRS-80. The Commodore 64 is supposed to be all sorts of better. We could have FR up and running lightning fast.

All of a sudden FR seems to be back to normal speed.

Hope it lasts.

This happens every time we get big news events lately, the system gets over loaded and then we get LOTS of USELESS VANITY POST and photos SLOWING DOWN THE SYSTEM even more.
