Christine and the Black Eyed Pea's were a microcosm of 1600 Penn. All glitz and messing up all the basics. Maybe a turning point for America now that they see it even it the entertainment.

Afghanistan is preparing to hang a man for becoming a Christian.
I hope that can get 1/100th of the attention that the Super Bowl has.

It’s what they get when they ask a pop idol to sing the National Anthem (IMHO).

I was reminded of that scene from a skating rink in New Jersey, where the audience pitched in when the mike went dead on a little girl singing - I believe it was “God Bless America”? The picked up for her and finished the song. It was touching.
In this instance, it was embarrassing. I cringed. You’d think when you have biggest audience you are ever going to have in your entire career, you’d try to get it right.

What an EMBARRASSMENT to have this kind of “singer” be on international TV.

The NFL ought to at least ask each act whether they even know the words to the anthem. When they are done yodeling it w/out mistake then they can be paid.

She was thinking about Twinkies. Either that or she was worried about how that double chin looked on television.

By the way, I wish these celebrities would just sing it and not try to "enhance" it or style it. The last time it became a Top 40 song, Whitney Houston sang it when she was at the top of her game and the country was at a very emotional moment, so it made it special.
And many of the latest crop of liberals weren't born yet.

I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.Although I've criticized the performance a LOT on FR, at least the apology sounds genuine. She didn't make up some lame excuse (wardrobe malfunction?).
