Gallup Poll: Reagan Was Greatest President Ever

February 19, 2011

Ronald Reagan tops the Gallup Poll's list of the greatest presidents for the third time, reports AOLNews. Reagan was the choice of 19 percent of those polled, followed by Abraham Lincoln at 14 percent. Bill Clinton was third at 13 percent.

Gallup began its "greatest president" poll a dozen years ago, and Reagan has been No. 1 three times: 2001, 2005 and this year.

Americans Say Reagan Is the Greatest U.S. President

PRINCETON, NJ -- Ahead of Presidents Day 2011, Americans are most likely to say Ronald Reagan was the nation's greatest president -- slightly ahead of Abraham Lincoln and Bill Clinton. Reagan, Lincoln, or John F. Kennedy has been at the top of this "greatest president" list each time this question has been asked in eight surveys over the last 12 years.

In the eight times Gallup has asked this same "greatest president" question over the last 12 years, one of three presidents -- Lincoln, Reagan, and Kennedy -- has topped the list each time. Reagan was the top vote getter in 2001, 2005, and now 2011. Lincoln won in 1999, in two 2003 surveys, and in 2007. Kennedy was on top in 2000, and tied with Lincoln in November 2003.

So Obama keeps praising President Reagan.

It's time for someone to tell Obama, "You're No Ronald Reagan!"

Ronald Reagan tops the Gallup Poll's list of the greatest presidents for the third time

For me this illustrates the how uneducated the average American is of his own nations history.

I will give you that Reagan is the greatest president of the 20 th century.

But Washington is hands down the indispensable man with out whom the United States would not be recognizable to us today.

Washington is unquestionably the Greatest President.

I agree. George Washington. In fact, some wanted him to take on the mantle of “King George” after the Revolution. He refused and said that (royalty) was OUT for the United States.

“He refused and said that (royalty) was OUT for the United States.”

Then came the Kennedys.

Any poll that leaves out Washington, and has Bill Clinton in #3, is worthless because it relies on the opinions of idiots. The only reason the Gipper (who should definitely be there) made it is because enough of the idiots are mindless lefties who have seen Obummer try to claim an affinity with Ronnie, so they vote for a great man with no real understanding of why he was great.

Today is not PRESIDENTS DAY! It is GEORGE WASHINGTONS BIRTHDAY!! Downplaying our first presidents importance to this republic is a disgrace and a tool the revisionists use to brainwash the young. Without George there would be no America. It will remain and always be GEORGE WASHINGTONS birthday. screw em! Teach your children because we know what their teaching them is school is not healthy for our nation

B.S. Washington’s Birthday is February 22. Today is some lame holiday contrived by liberals where the took Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays and made a single holiday, so that they could open a spot for a different person.

As much as I love Reagan, I would have to give the title of “greatest” to Washington, who was the commander that won our Indeprndence and then refusedvto become king.

Agreed. I also think that Coolidge was one of the greatest presidents and is often overlooked because he was followed by the twin disasters of Hoover and Roosevelt.

Lincoln may have won the Civil War, but to anyone opposed to a strong, central government, Lincoln was a horrible president. And Clinton's just a joke who will be a footnote in history mostly due to his impeachment.
