Mac Users More Liberal Than Windows Users

"A recent survey conducted on 400,000 people — in which 52% of respondents were self-described PC (Windows) people, 25% were Mac users and 23% were neither — showed that Mac users are more politically liberal than their PC-using counterparts. 58% of Mac users were 'liberal,' as compared to 38% of PC users. Amongst other things, the survey also indicated that Mac users were, on average, more urban, younger and more educated than PC users, which could potentially be a contributing factor toward being more liberal."

If I had more demanding uses, my mileage might differ.

Here, let me fix that for you:

If I had less demanding uses, wanted to run less software, have a less powerful machine for each dollar spent, have near zero interchangeability, no upgrade path, play less games, but look more smug my mileage might differ.

We do fix our own computers here? Not sure why anyone thinks it can’t also be done on a mac? A compiuter is a computer on the inside.

You know what they say about moderates. Traffic on both sides of the road runs over you. :)

Lies? No, just the simplicity of a machine for home use. I have built a Linux mail server from scratch, but was unable to keep the crap-ware from building up on a Windows box.

Your mileage may vary.

I love capitalism. I love that I can choose to be a Mac person, and you can choose to be Windows person. If you love Windows, rock on. We each vote with our dollars. I’m not religious about it.

I do find it ironic that many Mac people are liberals. They don’t see the irony in themselves.

I wouldn’t turn down a Mac as a matter of principle, but all I use the computer for is web surfing mostly, so I just need something cheap. My friends who have macs are really into video editing or composing music.

Don’t care. I will NEVER go back to Windows.

Me either.

Got tired of always having to fiddle with the computers, defrag, scandisk, anti-virus, blue screen, on and on.
Bought a MacBook in 2007, now have that plus 2 iMac desktops, iPad. Turn them on and 30 sec later or less you're surfing. Cool

"My purely anecdotal observation is that linux users are generally hardcore computer geeks who do not ascribe to conventional political affiliations."

I know a few Linux users and I've always wondered if someone who knows a good many of them could tell me whether being conspiracy theory nuts is common among Lunix users. All the guys I know who are big users and advocates of Linux are major league conspiracy theorists whether they're young or old. Maybe it's a clique of conspiracy nuts around here who went to Linux and are an exception or something, but it made me wonder. Regards

Jobs is to Gates as the Ipod is to the Zune. (The what?)

My impression is that Gates is looked at as some sort of rich super-nerd. Jobs could go on stage and sell dried up dog feces and his followers would line up to buy it from him. Not much different then what the socialist sold his followers three years ago.

As I’m getting deeper and deeper into CNC machining, I’m coming to the terrible realization that running CAD/CAM software like MasterCam is going to drag me back into Windows.

As you can guess, I view this development with all the enthusiasm of cleaning a cat litter box...

Not here in Wyoming, I assure you.

Subies get you around in the winters here. If you’re not driving a 4x4 pickup or SUV, you’re likely driving a Subie here.

There’s darn few 2WD autos here.

What about those of us who use both?

Is that like being bi-sexual?

Yah, and we all know Apple is not about GREEEEEEEEDDDD. Apple users are supporting Chinese employment, not to mention landfill operators because the batteries aren't replaceable. Talk about planned obsolescence!

Uh, Clint? The batteries on Apple products last far longer—typically 1000 recharge cycles to 80% of new capacity equalling an estimated FIVE YEARS longevity—than the batteries designed to be easily replaced, which are typically designed to last less than two years. . . and the Apple device batteries ARE replaceable and when they are replaced they get recycled... Guaranteed, not thrown in landfills. The batteries in the iPhone I bought in June of 2007 are still going strong four years later... Unreplaced... Still being used by the third hand-me-down user.

And, Clint? Those same Chinese workers are also working for HP, Dell, Motorola, Texas Instrument, Nokia, Sony, GE, Samsung, Google, and every other electronic maker you can name.
