The two men inside, Angel Naverrete and Daniel Alfaro, videotaped and narrated the entire exchange. The video will be at the center of a trial that will take place this summer.

During the traffic stop, which took place in February, the two men can be heard repeatedly asking the officer, who gave several warnings before eventually breaking the window, for his name and badge number.

If you drive into a sobriety check and won’t hand over your license... you’re an idiot.

I am a disobedient individualist.

I also comply with the commands of a legitimate LEO before thought or protest.

Learned that one the hard way, but it works for me and the girls I get.

They are generally set up so you can’t avoid them most of the time, and if you somehow make a u-turn or attempt to avoid the check point, they will pursue you and stop you.

The badge number is on the badge. All you have to do is look at it.

A driver’s license & a license plate are issued by the State and are property of the State. Driving (operating a motor vehicle) is a privilege not a right. That’s why those things can be suspended or revoked. It’s a law, at least in my state, that you must properly identify yourself when detained. When one get’s a DL they agree to abide by the rules of the road, the Laws of that Sate and any state they drive through. Obeying the orders of a law enforcement officer is the law, you contest them later in court if you so choose.
Next, passive resistance is still resistance.....otherwise it wouldn’t have resistance in it’s own name. It happens quite often enough that is why there is also a law specifically for obeying a police officer in my state. Yet again, listen too and abide by what the police officer says to do and then if there is an issue take it up the chain of command or straight to the courts.
These asshats are the typical youth of today. They would rather everything be about them, and that the big-bad-super-mean police officers are “fascist pigs”...........whom are trying to keep a drunk or high jackass off the road that mught kill their sister/mother/father/etc. But that doesn’t matter.
I’m just curious if these two asshats ever looked up the rate of death at the turn of the century when cars were just getting big; when there were no road laws or road rules, or traffic police. The last time I checked the death rate was astronomical back then for drivers, passengers, pedestrians, etc.

1: They were told at least seven times that yes, they were being detained and why. They kept asking the questions simply to harass the officers.

2: They acknowledged that they knew the men were police officers, by addressing them as “Officer” each time.

3: They had no legal right to demand the names and badge numbers of the police officers involved until such time as they had complied with the officers’ legal demands.

4: This type of action is very common among gangbangers who have been trained by their lawyers to harass the cops.

5: Cops knew they were in right, because they seized the video as evidence.

6: Bottom line, two minority “we know our rights” punks went looking for trouble. They found it.

Not really related, but my uncle told the time he evaded a backroad scale with his 18-wheeler. (On the backroad to bypass the interstate scale with his overweight load).

He stopped a couple miles short of the scales and started walking. Got to the scales and said “Boy - lucky you guys are here so I didn’t have to walk all the way to town. Can you call a tow truck for me - my rig is broke down back a ways.?”

They called, shared some cold water and conversation as they waited. The tow truck finally came, and he went back to get his rig. Waved to the troopers as they drove past the scales with 18-wheeler in tow!

That must have been really worth it. I’m not sure what a semi-truck tow would’ve cost a few years ago but in the past six years I’ve been on the road it’s above $400 (average) just to have a semi-truck tow truck show up. So either the load was worth that much or his company didn’t mind shelling out mucho deniro for something that was probably against their policies.

It’s a law, at least in my state, that you must properly identify yourself when detained.

Law abiding citizens must obey and properly identify themselves....Meanwhile, tens of millions of totally undocumented illegal aliens, drive, vote, work, collect welfare, avoid taxes and are all aided and abetted by the same government, which in turn forces the legitimate to subsidize them.

This statement was for the anti-police libertarians whenever they show up. The anti-police crowd always wants to get rid of the police but never has a good solution for the onslaught of problems that would be created by doing so. No law enforcement to enforce road laws=no road laws. No road laws=the early years of the driving era when death rates were astronomical.

What is it with people that can’t hold a camera steady when they are filming?

Turns out the two young punks are from a group that purposely interferes with police attempts to keep illegaal immigrants out of the US, and planned to create trouble at the checkpoint.

From the local newspaper:

“Alfaro (passenger )is affiliated with Alianza Comunitaria (Community Alliance), a North (San Diego) County-based group that opposes checkpoints and immigration raids.

The seven-minute video taken by Alfaro, who was the passenger, appears to show that the two men planned to challenge the checkpoint by refusing to provide their driver’s licenses. It shows the driver asking the passenger in Spanish what to say if asked for his driver’s license.

“Nothing,” the passenger answers. “The same thing, ‘Am I being detained?’”

OGA, 12 months!

>> If you drive into a sobriety check and won’t hand over your license... you’re an idiot.

Why submit if it’s not required by law? What about a vehicle search? Statism sucks and folks need to stand their ground for the liberties they cherish. It’s not an issue of antagonizing the individual wearing the uniform, but the process that grants authority over your civil freedom.

We have thousands upon thousands of young men and women fighting battles overseas for our liberties at home. To submit to statism for convenience is not exactly living up to the standards a free country demands.

And remember, LEOs enforce laws passed by politicians. They’re not God’s laws.

See #14. Seems these two punks were from a group that purposely harasses cops who are trying to keep illegals out of US.

But it is required by law. End of case.

“If you drive into a sobriety check and won’t hand over your license... you’re an idiot.”

They knew what they were doing.

It’s a privilege to drive a car. You need a license to do it.

Sobriety checkpoints are a fact of life because people drive drunk.

‘They are generally set up so you can’t avoid them most of the time, and if you somehow make a u-turn or attempt to avoid the check point, they will pursue you and stop you.’

Guy did that in Ocala about 35 years ago. They chased him back to his mother’s driveway then blew him away with shotguns. Don’t try to avoid a traffic stop in central Florida.
