There’re girls in the gang now isn’t there?
OH HOW DARE YOU THOSE “GIRLS” WOULD KID YOUR ASS BUDDY!.
People are so sensitive these days.
Reread what you posted, you're contradicting yourself, because of your first sentence:
You must've read my mind with this, as it was 103 yesterday in NYC and they were reporting that it 'felt like 112 without any wind' to 'cool it down' ...
Both are saying the exact same thing. Wind will make it feel cooler whether it is hot or cold out.
No doubt about it. I love the high heat if the humidity is really low, but that doesn’t happen often in the upper midwest. During the winter, winds and high humidity chill you faster than anything.
But I will say, the “it feels like” would be better put as “heat index” and “wind chill factor”. Get the mushiness out of the forecast and give us the facts, Jack.
When the wind is hot enough, it adds heat, not cooling. Just like a convection oven.
?
For as long as I've been hearing weather reports, meteorologists of both genders have been saying that it "feels" like X degrees out, based on the humidity or the wind chill factor.
What, is your wife a weather-ette with “feelings”, LOL?
I think to really measure “feelings” the weather-ettes would have to calculate how much we sweat!
I used to drive a datsun pickup 65mi each way to work in S. Arizona. No A-C. The windows were gapped a little for circulation. I was soaked by the time I got home.
It is absolutely a load of crap.
If the temp is 100, and it “feels” like 115, it’s still....HOT, and saying it “feels” hotter than the actual temperature is worthless, since hot is hot. Once the temperature is over 90, there’s very little difference if it gets to 110, since it’s still very hot.
If someone is not going to spend much time at all outside when it’s in the 90s, they won’t be spending much time outside when it “feels” like it’s 110 either.
Report the actual damn temperature and leave me alone.
Having said that, it’s been over 100 (actual) degrees here for 50+ straight days, so please send rain, tons and tons of it. :)
Did the weather-ettes put up maps of the whole country with “feels like” temps before they put up the real temps? Did they chat about how hot it is using only the “feels like” temps without mentioning that their entire weather report has been torn away from our (the public) historical memories and is now using data that none of us can compare to our lifetime experiences so that we can make our own good judgments?
It’s the same as comparing today’s SAT scores to those from previous decades. You cannot do it because they changed the test. It’s all a BIG LIE using words with changed meanings. Shameful!
Give me the “hot” weather over the #$@&ing 20-40 below crap!! I hate shoveling snow, I’d rather mow lawn! I’d do it in this “feels like” weather, and when I’m done, I still feel my toes and fingers! I get real pissy when people complain about the “hot” weather. I hate the statement, “You can always put more clothes on.” Bull#@^%, I still know it’s cold, and another thing, it will not get so damn hot you’re going to combust! Bring on summer, man! Too many months here in Minnesota are cold, and I’m enjoying what I get, and I don’t even have A/C, so there!
89.6 in Sacramento. Feels like 84.
Your wife would be correct! I live in the Blessed Republic of Texas and when it gets hot (always) we refrain from coffee/soup/and chili.
We drink TEA (sweet) and eat lighter foods. :)
The load of crap is the number of people here who don’t like what they’re being served up by the media, yet still continue to watch it - and bitch about how much they don’t like what they’re being served.
Well, I for one like to watch the weather so I’ll have an idea of when, if ever, we might get some rain. When watching the weather, I prefer to see actual temps, not someones feelings.
Now I usually just mute the weather, and watch for the extended forecast, since that needs no audio.
Have you ever opened your front door when it’s 115 degrees and felt the blast of that afternoon wind coming from the west that feels like an open oven door? Ouch!

Yes, Sacramento in the 80s and 90’s before global cooling kicked in.
Currently 89.0 and dropping fast due to a wind chill factor donchano.
And you’re still bitching...
