Personally, if I want to hear little voices whining at me I'll feed my cats late.

Well behaved children are almost never a problem.

That being said, I understand completely the growing trend towards keeping out children.

Can we have a no-thugs-allowed movement?

Children need to be socialized in order to learn to be social. That said, considering parents are too lazy to discipline their children anymore I believe businesses have grounds to prohibit children. Parents do not have the right to bring anything, including unruly children, that disrupts the business.

I’m all for the no babies in First or Business Class, but the ban at restaurants in unnecessary as you can avoid kids by dining at restaurants that would not attract people who drag their kids along.

Or at least the type of folks that cannot control their kids.

I have a much bigger problem with adults who blather loudly into their cell phones or drop f-bombs every other word than with toddler meltdowns.

When did kids become the equivalent of second-hand smoke? Blame a wave of childless adults with money to spare. "Empty nesters continue to wield a huge swath of discretionary spending dollars, and population dips in first-world countries mean more childless couples than ever," writes AdWeek's Klara.

That's where the article places the blame. I put the blame on incompetent parents who 1) Treat their child like a buddy, 2) Never, ever, discipline a child, 3) Pay no attention to their child in a public place, 4) Become irate when confronted with their child's rude behavior.

Earlier this month, McDain's, a Pittsburgh area restaurant that banned kids under 6 became a mascot for the no-kids-zone movement.

Mike McDain has been a friend of mine since the 60s but I hadn't been to his place for 4 or 5 years.

When I heard about this kid banning program, I got two other couples and we went to McDains and made it a point to tell him why.

We've been back since then and his business has really picked up.

He also has a driving range and I now go there instead of my club to hit balls.

I honestly believe that this AS WELL AS SMOKING!! should be up to the wishes of the proprietor.

If there is a demand for places to go where you can bring the rug rats, by all means, open a place up and make a fortune.

Similarly, if there are folks out there who enjoy a cigarette or cigar with a glass of wine after their meal, go for it.

I know, I know, it’s an outdated concept.

It’s called “the free market”.

Good. So long as I get audibly assaulted by little junior son-of-a-*itch in every restaurant, store and church I step into, smokers are owed an apology.

This is a logical conclusion for an increasingly hyperindivualistic culture devoted exclusively to pleasure and petty power.

In far too many households, the children are the decision-makers and are running the show!

Adults have abdicated because they don't want the children "mad."

If old farts want my kids’ social security contribution they should stop whining about the mere presence of children. There are definitely some selfish old people and childless people out there. Fine. They can care for each other in their final years and see how that goes for them.

Yeah, yeah, some kids are brats. That can be dealt with on an ad hoc basis. And I’m not for bringing kids into a nightclub or something. But it’s getting scary when kids are seen more as burdens than blessings. We, the mere “breeders”, need backing, not disparaging.

Seems to me that a business should be able to decide who to allow in their establishments. Just as I can decide which businesses to shop/eat at.

The problem is not the children but the parents who allow them to run wild and infringe on the rights of others.

If any of you would like to better understand the problem, get a copy of the movie "Barbarella" and pay particular attention to the scene where the "Getter" was rounding up all the kids who had been allowed to run wild. That will pretty much sum-up today's child problem.

We have banned restaurants from our list of recreational events. Those wonderful getaway-from-it-all moments so many enjoy have become nightmares with so many ill mannered children running unsupervised throughout the restaurants be they fast food, or other. Sick of it all.

We specifically don’t shop a couple of major retailers, because of being knocked down by kids running, and playing in the aisles while their parents shop oblivious of their kids actions.

As kids we knew what was right, and wrong. Our parents made certain we knew. Today the kids run free like animals with no regard for anybody but themselves, and what they want for fun, and entertainment, and their mouths....my GOD their mouths.
