The kid deserves better parents.

thought the list would appreciate this story. Terribly sad though. My heart goes out to the child who had to part with his / her dog.

Poor guy (dog and kiddo).

I agree the kid is better than both parents put together ;(

God bless them both

I hope everything works out for the kid, and the dog. Kids have the biggest hearts. God bless them.

Even in a divorce, a dog ends up with one or the other. In fact, I’ve heard of spouses fighting over who gets the family pet.

This is very strange.

My heart breaks with the sadness, the innocence and the unrequited love of this child. How dare his parents put their refusal to get along before their child.
I had a precious friend who died a few years ago at 79. She and her brother were abandoned when they were very young. As an old lady she was still sad and broken by her parent’s faithlesness.
I wonder if this child, like my friend, was forced into an orphanage. Certainly they had no love for their child or each other.

Wow - I would take the dog in a heartbeat, but I am extremely skeptical about the note.

I have never understood this type of behavior on the part of “adults.” I have a good friend who takes in rescue Goldens, and some of the stories are ridiculous.

One that I remember was of a Mom & two young children crying as they dropped off their dog...the Dad had decreed that since they were moving into a new home he didn’t want the beloved family pet of five years around any more. The Mom and kids, defying his order to take the dog to the pound, found the rescue group online. I’d have dumped the jerk and kept the dog.

I wonder what that type of selfish behavior does to the child in the long run? Thank goodness this child thought enough of his dog (and apparently this neighbor) to do some creative thinking...and the birthday money part just about breaks my heart.

“Wow - I would take the dog in a heartbeat, but I am extremely skeptical about the note.”

I,too! I don’t think that is something a child would have written. The note contains information only an adult would include, like the fact that the dog is okay with kids, but not other dogs. Perhaps an adult wrote the note in hopes that someone would take the dog.

I hope we find out the real story.

Maybe one was hurting the other through the dog. I’m not the biggest fan of the human race.

In my circle, we have a divorce attorney who practices in Westwood, in L.A. He told us one time, the other party did NOT want the Maserati but the German Shepherd which was bought from Germany. Those were the times he wanted to switch to personal injury.

Plus the birthday present money... Another thing that is missing from this story, is why choose Mr. Wu’s house?

If it was a kid, had to be a neighborhood kid, right? And this guy doesn’t know who the kid might be and has never seen the dog?? Any kids on your block that know you well enough to believe you will be a loving, responsible owner for their dog, but you never even saw this dog out for a walk or something, and have no idea who they are?? I don’t think so.

Either an adult dropped off the dog (still begs the question of why this house) or Wu made up the whole thing for his 15 minutes of fame.
