Leading causes of death in the United States - kids

The top two causes, Unintentional injury (accidents), Malignant Neoplasms (cancer), and Congenital Anomalies (abnormality at birth) accounted for more than half (63.35 percent) of all deaths among kids (ages 5 through 9) in 2002. Note that automobile accident is the number one cause of death in this age group, accounting for about 21%.

These are the latest numbers I've found. I post this so next time your doc asks you if there are guns in the house, ask them why they didn't ask you about seat belts in cars or whether or not you have a swimming pool? And sorry about the formatting of the table, but you folks will figure it out...

You can die from a hernia?

Yes, if it entails internal bleeding and is not detected, or if it is on a vital organ and again is not detected. Depending upon its location it can release toxic poisons (mostly acids) into other organs. But notice it is extremely rare. You can drown in three inches of water but that is also extremely rare. Generally there are other mitigating circumstances (as in the drowning) which lead to the death. In the drowning it would generally be because the person is completely knocked out and face down in the water.

I noticed how low homicide was as a cause—and according to another website, only 1 out of 8 homicides in the 6 to 11 age group are caused by strangers.

Thus, if you say “I am so scared of my kids playing in the public park, so instead I drive them ten miles every Saturday so they can go swimming at a friend’s pool” you are someone with no understanding of risk.

“Firearm” would be much farther down the list if it were categorized as “accidental discharges.”

More than half of those listed as death by firearm are gang shootings.

“Kids”? Are they talking about people under the age of 18? A number that would include teenage gang members? Let’s sort this number out to get at the truth.

Ha! Our biggest cause if death where I work ( a children’s hospital) is “non-accidental” trauma. AKA abuse. Usually mommy’s boyfriend.

As they say, if it had been a snake it would have bit me... Thanks for clearing that up.

Now, that's something Doctor's should be asking - and warning - about...

In most states docs have to report suspected child abuse by law

Sadly, so true !

Truth be told I’m convinced - if gang killings are omitted from the mix - firearms are “statistically insignificant” as a cause of child mortality.

Small wonder why the “antis” have to “stretch the statistical base” to include “children” up to age 23 in order to justify their statistics !

OTOH, I’m equally convinced our liberal social workers/prosecutors aren’t doing their job ! Why aren’t they identifying/suspecting child abuse in trauma cases ? Seems to me they’re “passing the buck” to already overworked doctors/nurses in ERs across the nation. >PS

Elite liberals own pools - and usually can't do math ... guess that's why the MSM doesn't cover this issue honestly.

Incarcerated hernias are not related to internal bleeding. Rather, they are when the intestine gets “caught” in the weakened spot of the hernia, gets strangled off by the muscle, loss of blood supply to the intestine, necrosis of the intestine, leakage of the intestinal contents (stool) into the sterile peritoneum, peritonitis, and then death.
