Vanity: Dealing with rude or arrogant police
flintsilver7

OK, so we've had a lot of rain recently in Northern Virginia. Yesterday into today accounted for about 8 inches, with another four inches earlier in the week. There is a small stream down the road which flooded badly, bringing down some trees around the bridge. It's marginally passable if you were to take one car at a time. In any case, the bridge is closed. Fairfax County Police, in their infinite wisdom, chose to block entry to the road at the nearest intersection. What they didn't consider was that they were blocking access to several hundred homes as well.

When I came upon an officer at this intersection, I asked him what I should do because I lived there. His very rude reply was to yell "the road's closed." Thanks, asshole, I can see that, so I replied "Yes, but I live here and I'm returning home." He then yelled, rudely again, "Can't you see the road's closed? Go up the road." I asked him where, saying again that I lived there and you can't just block almost 400 homes off without telling the residents where to go. I suggested a sign that said "local traffic only" or "residents only" and his response was "too bad."

Seriously, why does it seem like the only people who like cops have never had an experience with them? Are they all this obnoxious? (In my experience, yes, but that's another story.)

Only a copsucking fool would fail to see the real issue.

Drive around him really fast causing a huge wave to wash over his squad, hopefully when his window is open, all while flipping him the bird.

Do not do this. Never get the local or county mountie mad at you. Life will be hell. Instead, save this for when you really need it. No sense of gaining harassment for something so small.

I disagree - by failing to report unprofessional behavior your inaction reinforces the behavior. If the officer is so rock headed to ignore common sense, he needs an attitude adjustment NOW, not at some later time where he has GROSSLY over stepped his authority and professional attitude.

Of course, libertines and dope-heads don’t like the police. That’s nothing new.

You are projecting. Libertines tend to do that.

There isn’t anything to “honestly believe”. What I posted is a FACT. YOU don’t pay the salary of anyone. YOU don’t dictate what anyone does. We live in a Constitutional Representative Republic. YOU, as an individual don’t have the right to dictate any policy or law. (Don’t tell me you have a god complex too?). The police DON’T work for you, because YOU as an individual are not THE PEOPLE.

In a Republic, you speak through your elected representatives, and if you have a problem with a policy, you have to get enough of your fellow citizens together to make that change through the law. You see, until the law changes, you are just another idiot with an entitlement mentality. Moreover, your responses here are pretty demonstrative of the real way that you approached the situation.

Oh wait, that .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 cent that actually goes to a police officer’s salary entitles you to act like a jackass... uh huh.

By the way, the police officer pays taxes too. So why doesn’t his contribution to his own salary offset yours?

Why would I be mad? You’ve been a paragon of reason on a thread full of uppity civilians.

The poster told his story. I believe him.

You stepped in spouting the same garbage as every other homo badge bunny since the history of the Internet.

Fong off hoser as you are alone on this thread.

(Sorry flintsilver7 for being mean to this 'lil feller, but he deserves it!)

That’s one of the dumber posts I’ve seen recently.

You should re-read and reconsider, perhaps after you’ve slept it off.

The poster told his story, and I think he’s a liar. You stepped in spouting off the same garbage as every other dope-head libertine since history of the internet.

See, I can do that too.

And guess what, “being alone in the thread” means nothing to me. You don’t tell me what to do.

U mad bro?

Yep.... U maaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddd.

(And I am laughing at you.)

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?

1) The local police created a roadblock that served no purpose other than to prevent residents from reaching their homes. Understanding what they were “trying* to do, idiotic as it may have been, I asked the officer where I was supposed to go since I live down the road.

2) The officer was rude and acted as though a resident asking how he was supposed to get home was the worst thing that could possibly have happened to him. He did not direct me, he just yelled at me. When I suggested that they allow local traffic only (which is the universally accepted thing to do), he again yelled at me. At no point was I ever confrontational or even impolite.

3) There is no law that says the police can arbitrarily prevent residents from returning home. I don’t know why you’re saying that I have to go though the electoral process to stop the police from overreaching and acting in an improper manner to hassle local residents. I don’t.

The police have been authorized by society to perform their duties. They are accountable to every citizen, individually and as a whole. They do not have license to do whatever they want, whenever they want, until the “citizens” rise up and change a law that doesn’t even exist.

It’s honestly quite difficult to make sense of much of what you write. It’s hard mixing the “badge bitch” mentality with the “Dear God, please send me a shipping container full of anti-psychotics” writing and coming up with a coherent train of thought, and from my perspective it’s equally hard to respond.

Libertine?

Wanting to drive home on a public and totally passable road in a non-emergency situation to the house I own makes me devoid of morals?

You make no sense.

Duuuude... Put down the crack pipe that you confiscated on your last no-knock raid long enough to actually read what you are saying. Do us all a favor and go to bed and sleep it off before posting again, okay?

"Our staties usually ain’t d!cks, but we’ve got one real town clown within driving range."

Opposite case in Colorado. Staties here walk around like they got 12 corn cobs up their asses each. They consider themselves to be the professional creme da la creme of law enforcement in this state, but almost their only duty is traffic law enforcement on state highways, e.g., handing out speeding tickets. That probably has a lot to do with their nasty attitudes. And it's not just the citizens they treat like crap, they do the same thing with all other local law enforcement. I've ridden with Boulder County Sheriff's deputies and observed this for myself. Needless to say, the local law guys don't like the staties at all, and I don't blame them one bit.

Or see my previous post, which implies another alternative.

I think mine is more likely, but yours isn’t out of the realm of possibility either.
