Your contribution to a police salary is probably less than a cent. The police don’t work for any one particular person. They certainly don’t work for you, and your contribution to any salary is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. You see, in a republic the police work for the public at large, who speak through their elected representatives. Thus, if you don’t like a road being closed, you got to convince enough of your fellow citizens to elect representatives who will forbid the practice.
