I competely disagree with “Chinese Democracy”, it definitely is not a terrible ablum, in fact, it has some really good songs on it.

Listen to this song and tell me it’s bad, I could list 5 others from that ablum you’d like:

The cover of the second album (Believe) is a combination of all of the 5 major religions symbols, and focuses somewhat on "religious issues".

Photobucket

The lead singer (Dave Draiman) was on tour in 202 when his Grandfather, a Jew, died in Israel. At a young age, Draiman was beloved by his grandfather; however, when Draiman became a heavy metal musician, his elder cut off their communication. It wasn't until the grandfather fell ill that he wished to see his grandson.

But by the time word got to Draiman, who was on Ozzfest, his grandfather had mere hours to live.

Regarding his grandfather's death, he noted, "No one could look at the aura I projected over the course of that next week and not feel my pain and those feelings very definitely will present themselves on the record."

BTW - they do a version of "Shout" (Tears for Fears) in this album.

I guess you haven't heard their globull warming song, yet. (Another Way to Die)

And they're from Chicago! (GASP!)

Kind of the flip side, Disturbed did “Indestructable”, and according to my SF nephew, who served two tours in Iraq, the guys love it.

“Indestructible” Lyrics:
Another mission the powers have called me away
Another time to carry the colors again
My motivation an oath I’ve sworn to defend
To win the honor of coming back home again
No explanation will matter after we begin
Unlock the dark destroyer that’s buried within
My true vocation and now my unfortunate friend
You will discover a war you’re unable to win

I’ll have you know
That I’ve become
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you’re alive
I’m an indestructible
Master of war

Another reason another cause for me to fight
Another fuse uncovered now for me to light
My dedication to all that I’ve sworn to protect
I carry out my orders without a regret
My declaration embedded deep under my skin
A permanent reminder of how it began
No hesitation when I am commanded to strike
You need to know that you’re in for the fight of your life

You will be shown
How I’ve become
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while your alive
I’m an indestructible
Master of war

I’m
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while your alive
I am indestructible
Indestructible

Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while your alive
I’m an indestructible
Master of war.

as far as I can tell every record on that list arguably deserves to be on such as list, from the ones I know. Never Say Die was a record which I wish I had never bought.

Agreed. Musical creativity in writing only works for a few years with the same group of people, at least without a long break. For me, personally, the example that most comes to mind is Iron Maiden over the last 15 years or so. No records that compare to dickenson’s first 3. Muscially, they are all ‘nice’ but nothing inspirational, or at least very little.

"Lou Reed and Metallica?!?!?!?! WTF!?!?!?"

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

I think I'll hold out for Debbie Gibson to do an album with Anthrax.

Oh thanx - I never thought of that - love the idea and will let you know how it works...but I won’t get shoved into a mosh pit, would I?

Yup. I have that one favorited on Slacker (the main source of entertainment in my car), along with several other Disturbed songs. Another Way to Die is of course banned from ever playing on my Slacker stations. :) It is kind of ironic that they would have such a pro-soldier song right along side a globull warming song.

One comment I saw regarding "Indestructible": "This song could inspire a snail to attack a pile of salt." :o) .

Like you, I also like Disturbed. Great weight room music.

I gotta disagree. Stranger in a Strange Land and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son came out in the mid-late eighties and they are my favorite albums by them. Fantastic stuff, epic even. The stories are great, the music is awesome and hard-driving. Yeah, yeah, I know, flame away because of all the synthesizer stuff. But, at least on a Maiden album, the synth is rockin'.

Iron Maiden?!? EXCELLENT!

I see that cut on 'The Sickness', not this album. Quite good, in any event...enjoy their 'Land of Confusion' cover, as well.

I enjoy a few tracks on stranger.. quite a bit. I liked 7th son when it was a new release, but find I don’t listen to it or anything after stranger hardly ever now. If I do, it is Dance of the Dead.
