Cool, wish they’d find a bunch of rare earths now.

If we could only mount a real expedition there, not a fake one like, we did inside a Burbank sound stage back in what year was it, 1969, 1970? when that faker Tricky Dicky Nixon was in power!

Titanium is hardly a rare element and ilmenite is a common mineral found in beach sand. And with most of the developed countries on planet Earth on the verge of economic collapse, only a fool would see some point in spending billions colonizing the moon.

I don’t think they will allow mining on the moon. It would endanger salamanders, or voles, or something.

Titanium helped put the US on the Moon, and the USSR never got there. Similarly, US military aircraft used a lot of titanium, while Soviet military aircraft had larger engines to move all that steel, and a shorter range as a consequence (they planned to fight their air war near their European bases anyway; also built a lot more craft), as well as less manueverability.

Titanium remains expensive. Processing it on the Moon will work fine as long as it is done by a sovereign colony, rather than employees working under an EPA-crippled enviroweenie-impact agenda. Thanks decimon.

Titanium is not that hard to find on earth. It’s the most common white pigment in paints and other white colored things.

The real question is whether the “Moonies” work cheaper than Earthmen. If so, it’s time for a MAFTA (Moon-American Free Trade Act). I haven’t heard of a GAFTA (Galactic-American . . . .) so I guess our government hasn’t made contact with the UFO pilots yet.

They announced a few years ago that the nearly identical make up of the lunar surface proves that the Moon was previously a part of the Earth. So what does this do to that theory?

This is news? When the Moon rocks brought back by the Apollo missions were analyzed, they showed a fairly large amount of titanium in the rocks. As such, I knew even by 1970 that someday, when Moon colonies were established it would evolve into a big mining operation for titanium, a metal with major industrial uses, especially with its high tensile strength and resistance to corrosion.

Been waiting for them to find something of real value on the Moon or on any of the other planets since 1969. Moon Maidens, Amazonian Women, or even those green skin Orion slave girls. I can’t wait much longer, I’m not getting any younger.
