By now I'm sure most of you have seen the Nisson truck ad where the pickup aids the Boeing 727 land with collapsed nosegear. Is this for real or an episode of clever cinematography? I figure if anyone would know, you guys would.

I did some research, and from what I can tell, at that stage of landing, the airplane would be traveling between 150 and 180 miles per hour.
I doubt that truck can reach that speed.
Any pilots out there are welcome to correct my numbers.

If its for real, somebody should sue for the danger the driver and the plane were in.

No tricks both commercials were true!!!!

CGI
This was a blatant rip-off of '405 - The Movie', which itself, was a blatant rip-off of a scene from 1984's Buckaroo Banzai.

For Nissons it is a $1000 extra for that feature. Nissans don’t have it. Sorry I had to do it! ;)

Definitely fake.
Do you know how much weight is on the nose wheel of your standard airliner? Me neither, but it's for sure more than 1/2 ton. If you look closely, you'll see that when the wheel comes down in the back of the pickup, it doesn't squat down even an inch.

Healthy skepticism, (emphasis on healthy) should make you ask how someone could even drive a vehicle of ANY sort onto a runway? Then, you’re inner “can’t be true” voice also should have questioned how much the front landing gear of a airplane might weigh and if a garden variety truck could even bear the weight of said airplane.
More importantly, what’s the over/under on replies to this thread? Triple digits?

I was the camera man for this commercial. I had to run 182 mph in order to stay ahead of the truck and plane. We would have had a longer commercial but my left and right Air Jordans both had blowouts. AAA towed me to a Sports Plus for new rubber.
