Penn State football will be better off with Paterno gone. He should have retired 10-12 years ago and let a fresh young coach take the helm.

But, no, he had to hang onto his power in Happy Valley until he became the Robert Byrd of football coaches, and the valley is now an unhappy place.

You, you’re God Almighty? You have the gall to condemn someone to hell? Of course this is an hideous crime, and one that no one can stomach. But your vitriol is totally uncalled for, and the good Lord doesn’t need your help, He’s got plenty of work cut out for him that is His and His alone.

Sorry but it isn’t credible that Paterno was naive or uninformed. Penn State should be permanently banned from football. This is where social conservatives must either put up or shut up.

Wrong.

Paterno IS the program. He knew this was going on. He let a child predator get full retirement, a parking space, and keys to the facilities.

THe “candy” offered for this child rapist was access to the Penn State football program.

WHAT IF IT WERE YOUR KIDS?

You’re a sick bastard if you put football above the lives of children.

I may have been guilty of making one or two jokes about this, but right now, I just can’t think of anything funny about this...this whole “Ped State” stuff just rubs me the wrong way.....focus on the individuals responsible for this, not on an entire institution. I really feel bad for anyone who has gotten a degree from there, who now feels like they have to deny their association to the university because of this, including someone very close to me.

Sorry but your wrong, he was legally bound to take action and he did not:13031. Child abuse reporting
(a) In general
A person who, while engaged in a professional capacity or activity described in subsection (b) of this section on Federal land or in a federally operated (or contracted) facility, learns of facts that give reason to suspect that a child has suffered an incident of child abuse, shall as soon as possible make a report of the suspected abuse to the agency designated under subsection (d) of this section.
Note: the (or contracted) covers any institution that directly or indirectly receives federal funds.

(d) Agency designated to receive report and action to be taken For all Federal lands and all federally operated (or contracted) facilities in which children are cared for or reside, the Attorney General shall designate an agency to receive and investigate the reports described in subsection (a) of this section. By formal written agreement, the designated agency may be a non-Federal agency. When such reports are received by social services or health care agencies, and involve allegations of sexual abuse, serious physical injury, or life-threatening neglect of a child, there shall be an immediate referral of the report to a law enforcement agency with authority to take emergency action to protect the child. All reports received shall be promptly investigated, and whenever appropriate, investigations shall be conducted jointly by social services and law enforcement personnel, with a view toward avoiding unnecessary multiple interviews with the child.

Anyone blaming Penn State the institution is just stupid. Penn State is going to have to do a complete sweep to get any and all of the actors in this and come down hard. Joe Paterno deserves to be at the top of that list, I know he is beloved by a lot of people but as this thing unwinds he is going to be shown top have acted in a despicable fashion. He has been there to long and had to much power not to have been able to have done the right thing. Sandusky was a personal friend , he knew and covered it up!!

That aritcle is terribly misinformed. Paterno already has testified to the grand jury that he DID KNOW. The article says:
Let me first say that if Paterno did really know all that he could (or even should) have known about all the heinous crimes that his former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky is alleged to have to committed, then there simply is no defense. Paterno should be fired immediately and his remarkable legacy should be forever tarnished.
Well guess what? We know Paterno knew, and we know he didn't call the police, or parents, and the guy was free to rape children for an additional 10 years because Paterno as covering up for his pedophile buddy.

You can read the grand jury report yourself, it is totally horrifying.

Necessary, but very sad all around. Nothing to celebrate in such a wreckage of ethical lapse.

What was Joe’s offense? When exactly did Joe go homo?

How come the number of offended aren’t spoutin’ off as large as the coupla whore’s making aspersions against Cain?

And THAT being said: what heppen to West? He just slinked away ‘cause homo in the closet?

I say we hunker down and deal with the clods thrown and throw back some bullets of our own.

Wrong. This moment is a crossroads for the nation. Paterno and anyone in authority at the time must be fired and their golden parachutes cancelled. Football? Penn State gets banned FOREVER.

C’mon maaan!

This situation, over a period of many years, had nothing to do with “young Kids” (as you stated).

Most college athletes are adults of the majority age; not “Kids”. It’s been tiresome to see and hear the talking heads on TV referring to the football players as “children”. ....When did people aged 18 and into their 20s become known as children?

I had completed my active duty in the US Navy when I was still 20 and certaintly wasn’t a “child” or a “Kid”.

Seriously, I’m way guilty of often not reading the stories associated with a post VERY often, so this is coming from experience: PLEASE do yourself a huge favor and read up a little bit before you post on this subject again. Eighteen to 20-year-olds are most definitely not the issue here.

Grand Jury

The victims were not college age..They were children and young teens

Troubled/needy youth being molested by Sandusky..Some of the moestation occured in Penn State facilities.

Just terrible job by the media

And the University.

My take is if Joe charged Sandusky without any other proof or evidence he would have been wide open for a law suit, if it were found to be false. From what I heard he did report it to the University.
