I am cigar ignorant.
Can FReepers give me ideas for a nice going away cigar gift for an executive who has been a great mentor to me?
Up to $100...
sorry, but 99.99% of the Cubans you think you are smoking are not.
Its even hard to get authentic name brand Cubans in Cuba. Most cigars available in cuba are nothing more than back room mom and pop operations that use factory second leaves or scraps from the government oversighted factories.
Chances are you were smoking nothing but banana leaves.
Read up on the whole fake Cuban cigar industry. You’d be suprised.
I double checked, and it looks like the hologram may not be used on boxes shipped overseas.
read my post.
You’re not getting any authentic Cuban cigars....period.
The are ALL fake unless you want to spend $70+ from a dealer in Europe.
I second Rocky Patel 1992’s and Cigar International.
Also a long suffering Brown’s fan.
“Also a long suffering Browns fan.”
Sorry about your luck. I’m just about done. I ignored yesterday’s game, until the end, when I told my wife they’d do whatever they have to do to lose. Once again, my negative attitude towards the lousy team was rewarded with being right.
Holmgren is just another in a long line of washed up once great sports figures to come to Cleveland for one last check without giving any effort.
The Browns are awful, and have regressed. I don’t have the time nor the patience to follow such a wretched bunch of losers.
Arturo Fuente Gran Reserve maduro's are very good for the price. Also La Gloria Cubana Series R maduro's are delicious.
Note that many cigar have words like Cuba or Havana in the brand name, or they use terms like "from Cuban seed", but this is just marketing. It does not mean the country of origin at all.
Well I’ve been a fan since 1954 and have seen the regimes and coaches come & go. I agree on Holmgren. He’s a disingenuous SOB & may be the worst ever org. leader. But don’t get me started.
Re: cigars, I also like the Arturo Fuente Canones Maduro. You’ll need a good hour & a half though.
And....my beloved Montecristos have been very consistent over the years....always the same, always recognizable, even if I go a year in between.
NOW THOSE look mouth watering!
“Well Ive been a fan since 1954 ... “
Ok, you got me beat there, I wasn’t born until 1957!
Back in the early 70s, I was a Packers fan. The Browns were not very good, and I was looking for a good team. The 70s Packers weren’t any better. Mid 70s I came around, been a Browns fan ever since. Although, now it’s starting to feel like 1997 when Cleveland didn’t have a team. At least the prospects for the Buckeyes just got better, (Urban Meyer).
I usually have an hour or more on the weekends. I hike my dog and we take about an hour, I smoke then. I always smoke outside. I’m a bit of a cheapskate. I get Rocky Patels when I can, but usually end up with samplers. The Man O’ War cigars are good cheapies. I like the 5 Vegas, and Perdomos.
Nothing like a nice cigar and a walk with the dog after work.
Do you know what he likes to smoke? I like the strong ‘nub’ types myself.
I buy all my stuff at http://www.bestcigarprices.com anymore. Today is cyber Monday so free shipping on everything though they’re already free shipping on alot of things.
Punch, Perdomo, Partagas, MAXX, CAO, Hoyo de Monterrey, and an occasional Fuente or Padron are under $100.
If you haven’t tried this sampler - give it a whirl.
Just finished it & all good.

I finally got a Monte #2 in Aruba at the La Casa de Habano, it was terrible. I buy Cuban at only respected stores in the Caribbean and Canada, 9 out 10 are no better than I can buy locally and cost way more.
Cuban Punch has been the best and I will get a few, when I go to the Caribbean in February.
If you go to Rotan, the street vendor that rolls them right in front of you has great cigars for $2.
Looks good, I just might. But not for a week or two. I just bought some last week!
Thanks.
Have you ever had one which was definitely authentic, but bad?
