I’m with him. He’s just finishing what she started years ago.

Sure it was a long time ago, but she’s never confessed it to him. I can imagine his anger - decades of marriage built on lies and deception.

I agree. If the guy can still rifle though a chest of drawers, read age-old hand-written notes, and have the presence of mind to be upset and seek a divorce (never mind that I think it’s a mistake), then he gives me hope that I can still take care of myself at his age!

That is sad but betrayal is still betrayal. It must’ve meant something to her for her to have kept the letters all of these years....?

The kids should get DNA tests to find out if they are really who they think they are.
Good point. Don’t blame him a bit for being angry.

I don’t understand the posts about this guy not being rational or reasonable in this decision. It may have happened 60 years ago but the wife has been lying to him for 60 years. I don’t know what I’d do personally.

Such a long life, lived together. Such an old transgression, too. I hope he finds it in his heart to forgive her. But, it must be a shock to find out you’ve been lied to for sixty, seventy years by the one person closest to you.

This sounds like a story Sophia Petrillo would tell on "The Golden Girls".

That woman was threefold stupid, once to have an affair, twice to keep incriminating evidence of her infidelity and thrice to confess everything when confronted.
I would say he’s better off without her, but odds are good both will be dead withing a handful of years and with their last years filled with anger that could have been avoided at least 3 times..
Better had she discarded the mementos, taken her shameful secret to the grave and saved everyone the pain.
