Children are being abandoned on Greece's streets by their poverty-stricken families who cannot afford to look after them any more. Youngsters are being dumped by their parents who are struggling to make ends meet in what is fast becoming the most tragic human consequence of the Euro crisis.
It comes as pharmacists revealed the country had almost run out of aspirin, as multi-billion euro austerity measures filter their way through society.
Athens' Ark of the World youth centre said four children, including a newborn baby, had been left on its doorstep in recent months. One mother, it said, ran away after handing over her two-year-old daughter Natasha.
Four-year-old Anna was found by a teacher clutching a note that read: 'I will not be coming to pick up Anna today because I cannot afford to look after her. Please take good care of her. Sorry.'

Strong enough to run so momma is still eating fairly well.
Any parent who would abandon their child should be shot dead in the street like a dog.
The day the welfare and food stamps dry up here we will see the same thing.Many of these kids were only pay checks to their parents.....

Sorry, ain’t buying it. First off I doubt any Greek will be naming their daughter “Natasha”.
So very true. Here in my state, social workers are having a difficult time finding foster homes for kids who enter the system... because the children their trying to find homes for consist of sibling groups of seven, eight, NINE children being placed. Why would families be having that many children?? To increase their gravy train.
As evidenced by complete lack of parenting that inevitably results in thousands of welfare babies growing up to be derelicts.
It has already happened here: breakfast at school, lunch at school, dinner at school. Then, if they happen to be good athletes some wealthy family will take them in, clothe them, educate them, maybe even adopt them, and groom them for college athletic recruiters. (some sarcasm intended).
Pssst. Natasha is a Greek name. Don’t tell anyone.

This article in a Brit rag could be nothing more than pressure on the Brit PM to bail out the euro weenies.
