Long gone may be the days when flying was a luxury though the handling of the airport's terminal is believed by one travel site to still make all the difference to its passengers. Travel website Frommer's has released their list of the top 10 best and worst airport terminals in the world.

To be fair to JFK the much newer Terminal 5, which handles most international flights, was in the Best 10. I would vote the Tom Bradley Int'l Terminal at LAX as the worst I ever personally experienced.

I remember that long after ATMs were commonplace, the ones at JFK worked only if you were a Citibank customer. And the parking lots were cash only. This combination made things difficult for us one late evening as we returned from England. The place has always felt to me like it was run by a rather sclerotic Mafia mob.

The Delta terminal reminds me of a bus station in Bangladesh. The problem is, Bangladesh would actually smell better.

JFK worst airport and NYC worst city. If you don’t believe me come live here like I unfortunately do under a megalomanical exterior decorating fag hag despot named Mike Bloomberg. The Constitution? What’s that? It seems it only exists for out of state trust funders when they want to camp out down by Wall street and threaten cops, citizens, and small business owners on a daily basis for months on end and for Islamic punks who want to act like conquerers and shove a Mosque in the noses of the 911 families.

JFK is the worst. The design was outdated before it was even built. LAX at least can handle modern aircraft efficiently.

Welcome to New York. You are not allowed to buy prepared food with salt. You are not allowed to smoke. You are not allowed to bear arms. You are not allowed keep all of your income. You will submit to the desecration of the World Trade Center with the construction of a mosque. You are not allowed to meet in a public school if you are a Christian organization. You should not expect your streets to be plowed during Christmas week because the sanitation department does not have to do its job.

Oh, to have Giuliani as mayor.................

hmm...it says one of the worst is New York LaGuardia Airport Terminal 5.
I just looked at a New York LaGuardia Airport Terminal map & it lists them by letters, not numbers.
What is Terminal 5?

It’s pretty bad. Not as crummy as Heathrow (Terminal 3 excepted, but it’s practically brand new) and Gatwick, but the designer of CDG must have learned his trade in a Bangkok whore house. Over the top French “style” at its worst. The best airports are largely in Asia and Schiphol in the Netherlands is to my mind the best in Europe.

Having been through the Accra, Ghana (West Africa) airport a couple of times, I respectfully disagree with the headline.

Those were the days. I loved that guy. I like what he said what he would do about the OWS protestors: No people sleeping on the street period. Oh but not for this fag hag Bloomberg. That’s because he’s an ultra-leftist himself. I just wish the hell he’d move back to Assachussets where he belongs. How do you like him trying to ban booze a few weeks ago? The guy is out of his mind.

What irks me most about this turd though is his elitist cronyism. He fires people at the drop of a hat for taking a cigarette break or having solitaire on their computer, but his transportation commissioner, this complete and utter idiot Janette Sadik-Khan who has absoutely NO idea what the hell she is doing, keeps her job month after month year after year while millions of people trying to get to work or make deliveries go through hell on earth.

Her educational qualifications are she has a law degree and a degree in political science. Oh, yes and she rides a bike. So obviously this quaifies her to be traffic commissioner of the entire city of New York. She she can do whatever she wants, make traffic rules that make absolutely no sense, that makes traffic worse, entire streets must be reduced to one lane to make way for bike lanes nobody uses. That way when trucks have to make a delivery, they can now block entire streets or be forced to triple park. Her latest project I noticed is reducing Broadway by 72nd to one lane for absolutely no reason. Creating a bottleneck so now traffic gets backed up all the way uptown. Beautiful, obviously this is a woman who knows what she is doing and therefore she should be kept on the job. Who cares if ambulances and firetrucks get stopped cold in traffic. People must die rather than Janette lose her job all so Bloomberg can air kiss her at the next cocktail party.

I’ve been in airports from Bangkok to Boston to Beirut and the worst, bar none, was clearly Newark, NJ.

I don’t base my opinion of an airport on how it looks, but how it functions in moving people efficiently and safely. JFK is just way too small for the amount of air traffic it gets. It was designed back in a time when they handled a couple of 707s an hour at best. The designers never planned ahead for the modern era of air travel. Meanwhile CDG is just horribly inefficient in moving people from the terminal onto their planes and downright dangerous at times because of the idiots they hire as workers. The airport itself could probably work well for almost any other country, but doesn’t work well because it is run by the french. I also dislike Milan airport because it doesn’t have proper restroom facilities. The restrooms handle 3 people at a time (when they are working), but serve over half a dozen gates. There will be more lavs on your departing aircraft than in the terminal.

Nor do I and I'm sure you realize my joking remark about CDG's decor was not the most serious criticism I'd make. However, when they built CDG it is clear their priority was decor (however bordello like) over function. It is a horrible place to have to fly through compared with most if not all of the other major airports in Europe.

But to get back to the point of the thread, I would not compare JFK to even CDG favorably. The fact that JFK is part of the New York infrastructure and New York (sub) culture creates a whole host of other problems even CDG doesn't have. I have to fly through the New York area fairly regularly and, in part because I live closest to a Continental Airlines hub, I will always choose Newark Liberty and avoid JFK like the plague.

I think the last time I had to fly through Milan was 20 plus years ago. But thanks for the tip about the facilities. I'll make sure to take care of things before I land, or before leaving the hotel headed out.

,,, I did LAX, Phoenix, Kansas City, Zurich, Frankfurt, Charles de Gaulle, Munich, Lantau and Auckland airports between Dec 26 and Jan 7. Munich was really something... spotlessly clean and well set out. CDG is grimey and a bit run down.

Changi is probably the best large one I've seen over the years from memory and Copenhagen is pleasant for an airport that's not as big.

Next time round it's Buenos Aires, Houston, Miami, Atlanta and home thru SFO. The sun's always rising somewhere [yawn].
