Joe Paterno is a piece of human trash.

Remember- Jesus loves the children the most.

Quite the coincidence that he died so quickly after this, huh?

Scumbag.

Paterno is no different than Cardinal Law other than Cardinal Law hasn't assumed room temperature yet. They both protected child rapists.

“Jerry Sandusky was accused of sexually molesting underage boys”

The writer is trying to condition his readers to think that if the boys hadn’t been “underage” all would have been well. This is a good example of sodomite spin.

I think the author should start praying to the messiah Paterno, now that he has ascended into heaven.

I'll save my sympathy for the 12 year old who was escorted out of Paterno's showers, bleeding from the ass, by his rapist.

Joe knew it happened. Joe still let the rapist on his campus. Joe let the rapist bring other boys to overnight Penn State football events. Joe still employed the scumbag who let the rapist finish the assault and leave with the child. And Joe never once followed up with the police or anybody else as to the welfare of that child. He could still be under Sandusky's porch for all we know.

If Novak's only point was that more heads should have rolled at Penn State, I'd be with him. But Paterno deserved to be fired and they should have sent his statue with him.

The comments on the National Review site are worth reading. On target, and 10-1 opposed to this dreadful jock-worshiping column by Novak.

Paterno's coaching legacy is secure. History will record his culpability as not having taken appropriate action.

The Sandusky scandal is a stain on an otherwise great career and is certainly a sad way to go out. IMO dismissing Paterno was the correct action. Some things are more important than a happy ending to one man's career.

Novak figured out a way to draw yet more angry scorn on Joe Paterno.

I never could fathom sports fanatics: even when someone in a position of responsibility shields a harmful pervert, they find some reason to whitewash what they've done.

So, if Joe Paterno wasn't involved in sports - let's say he was just a manager of a department store and he protected one his childer molester employees - would they have kind words for him?

The injustice was that Paterno knew for over a decade what the “at risk” youth of “Second Mile” were actually at risk for, while Sandusky paraded a bevy of boys around the PennPedo State Campus.

The guy is absolute scum who thought football more important than a bunch of “at risk” youth. Only if they could play football was Paterno interested in them as a person - otherwise Sandusky could do what he wanted with them.

If he didn't think McQuerry’s report was credible - why was McQuerry hired onto the team for the next decade? If he was credible - then what was Sandusky doing parading young boys around “happy” valley for the next ten years.

Paterno is absolute scum - as is those members of Penn State and the community who saw and see nothing wrong with the events as they happened in regards to the decades long inaction of a man who enabled pedophilia and allowed it to go on right under his nose and said nothing - because to him football was more important.

Absolute scum.
