I'll admit it's just not the same when FR goes off line. The last time something like this occurred was during the summer right about when Hurricane Irene hit, if my memory serves me correctly. At first when these off line occurrences began it had me worried, concerned, the absence of any hard news started me thinking perhaps FR's site was under attack, the enemies of Mankind were on the march. a new, more insidious directive by George Soros being undertaken by Attack Watch and the Obama Truth Team didn't seem out of the question.
As the evening wore on, and FR's off line status extended into the night, I figured things would be back to normal in a few hours. Nevertheless, I was hard pressed to find a site I can say I enjoyed spending time at anywhere near what I experience here at FR.

Really made me realize what an excellent job you folks have been doing to provide current conservative news. Absence has made the heart and head grow fonder of Free Republic.

FR went out yesterday evening, my time, but I was having many internet problems at the same time. A number of things were not working, but in the morning it was still out.
I remember when there was FreeRepublic on Yahoo messenger
when there was a previous major disruption, but I saw no
activity on it this morning.
Does anyone recall the Yahoo Messenger activity, or know of other links when there is a system failure?

I broke out in cold sweats when FR was not coming up. FR is far better than Drudge or the New York Times and serves as the stake that is lodged in Dracu-bama’s heart.

Anyway, I join in those who are glad FR is back. I was reduced to surfing gossip websites to read about Angelina Jolie’s “legbomb”. LOL!
If FReepers don’t think there are liberal hackers trying to destroy the net’s preeminent conservative website....

I googled and learned the chief mode of attack against FR is for copyright violation for excerpting whole news service articles. It’s been countered on 1st Amendment grounds, but the war goes on.
Time for a donation, JMHO.
