Marie Eaton, 42, tipped the scales at 50 stone two years ago - five stone more than her husband and four children combined.
But after undergoing a rapid weight loss regime, she has shed an incredible 31 stone - more than the weight of all four of her offspring put together.
Marie, a housewife from Newark-on-Trent, Notts, said: "At my heaviest, I couldn't even get up the stairs - I was forced to sleep on the sofa.
"I'd drink litres of fizzy drinks and eat £40 of takeaway in a single sitting on my own at least four nights a week.
"But around my 40th birthday I remember seeing myself in the mirror and thinking my body was close to giving up.
"I knew that I had to change otherwise I'd leave my children motherless."
Marie had piled on the pounds after her mum tragically died in her arms from a heart attack.
She bulged from a petite nine stone 16-year-old to 50 stone on her 40th birthday after comfort eating to cope with the loss.

"...???...I passed a stone once...and then I had a stone pass me, I ducked"
Only 20 stone more to go.
Geez, I passed ONE stone once and I thought it was gonna kill me. It was a pretty big one, though...
Good for her!
She was 16 when her mum died - so in 26 years she gained over 600 pounds and had 4 children???
There are so many morbidly obese men and women - it’s an epidemic. Overeating and no exercise. Don’t know how that’s possible raising 4 children, and why didn’t hubby stop her?
Good to see she came to her senses before those kids were without a mum.
Have you ever tried to talk to a woman about her weight?
It does not matter about your intentions or method, that cannot be done, my friend.
She should have taken the rocks out of her pockets sooner.
The British went metric a generation ago so why do they stick with this “Stone” business.
You forgot a word so I fixed it for you.
In English please?
No matter how one looks at it, that’s a lot of stones.
That's what the Wookie does after a "Let's Move" session.
Liters of soda and $65 of fast food.
You’re right. I didn’t think through my positon completely.
Thank you. :)
Wow, a 31 lb Kidney Stone must have hurt like hell ...
It’s surprisingly easy to gain weight. If you have the right genetics for it, you can do it on as little calories as a bottle of pop and a chocolate bar.
I think they like to irritate Americans with it. Kind of a passive aggressive thing over the war.
It’s just not the eating and no exercises..it’s what’s in these foods....I live in a town where there are so many morbidly obese people I just can’t believe it. PEOPLE...STOP EATING.
You are so right. There are so many things that are good for you in these foods that you put on the weight very easily. We are so prosperous a society that we have made the things that we crave (fat and sugar) and that are so hard to come by in nature, easy and cheap in our capitalist system. Plus, we have made hard work optional as we have become so productive.
Because of this, many people put on a lot of weight very easily
Yes, lot's of area have regional obesity. I grew up in an lower middle class, blue collar area. Fatties everywhere.
When I go o home I can't believe how fat the people are.
The British government went metric (under orders of the EU.) The people, not so much. And it wasn't a generation ago -- it was '96 or '97.
Canada went metric in the early seventies, but Canadians I know still typically speak of their weight in pounds.
liters = approximately a quart
squiggle+40 = 40 British pounds (not to be confused with weight in pounds, however that’s what the name is based on, no I’m not being a smartass) = about $75
takeaway = take-out food, but in this case it’s a certainty that she wasn’t the one taking it out, also it can mean delivered food
begin smartypants mode
“That IS in English, you should have said, ‘in American please?’, haw haw haw!”
end smartypants mode
I crack myself up!
