I personally know and know of several Mormons who have served in the armed forces of the USA. They are very patriotic people in general.
A quick google seems to indicate that they make up about 1.5% of the military, while comprising 1.7% of the general population.
Yes. Many Mormons serve in the military, all branches. Here’s a few more well known ones.

Some do. Many don’t. Most of the Mormons I knew in the military were either converts while in the military or ‘jack mormons’ not active ones. A big part of this is because the average age of joining the Military is 18-22 and active Mormon men are expected to serve an LDS mission from the ages of 19-21.
I have yet to personally meet a Mormon who joined the military after serving his LDS mission. However, I have pinged an ex-mo who might have some insight and 2 never Mormons who were in the Air Force for many years.
Romneys don’t. See tagline.
There were 2 mormons in my Army unit, one did not seem very serious about it, the other found Jesus, married a cajun girl and joined a Baptist church. My impression is that for every active mormon there is at least one former LDS. I go to an evangelical church in Colorado, and we have several former mormons in our congregation.
I had a Mormon Army buddy in Viet Nam. He was a great guy and at the time was quite a partier or “Jack” Mormon.
I knew several Mormons in the ‘Corps. All infantry.
Yes, they do,
but NOT the Romney’s.
Some do. Romneys don't. Never have; probably never will.
Better question:
Why do people clog up Free Republic with stupid posts instead of just doing a Google search?
a lot of LDS missionaries learn exotic languages and are very valuable in the military intelligence because of their knowledge of third world countries.
Yes, I have two friends who are norman who served with me.
Yes, I have two friends who are norman who served with me.
Heck yes. I served with several in Special Forces. 19th Group has a bunch....
I worked with a Mormon on an overseas assignment in the early 1970’s. He was very clear that he would not serve in a combat unit, but had no problem working with us in the intelligence community.
Yes they serve. The one I knew was a real jerk. But then, if he had been a Baptist he would still have been a jerk. It was his nature.
At a National Cemetery near here there is a Mormon headstone with an angel tooting a horn.
Absolutely. I have a friend, who is Mormon, who is currently serving in England in the Air Force as a physician.
