and it's 8PM eastern, and it's still daylight.
I don't remember getting the longer days until later in the month.
anyone?
The sun is not staying out longer than in the past. This is a leap year so it is a day later than most years, that will account for several seconds over last May 5
I feel like the sun has been rising earlier; I don’t remember the sun rising so early in April (I use weather.com’s sunrise schedule for some outdoor stuff that revolves first light).
The peak of late sunsets is around the summer solstice. And yes, “The sun rises and sets later as you move west within your timezone, and the number of hours of daylight increases as you go north.”
I live in the Boston area. My first trip to Toronto, admittedly near the summer solstice, wound up with sunlight past 9 pm I think. Because I was a bit further north and
definitely further west. I went to a Cle. Indians game with a friend and told him “it gets darker later here, I notice!”
Reverse when it comes to winter, etc. Check out a football game in December. A 4 pm start in Foxboro, MA—just about dark. A 4 pm start in Miami—still a lot of sunlight left.
Welcome to "old age".
