Miracle Whip Versus Mayonnaise

Posted on 06/09/2012 9:04:20 PM PDT by FoxPro

I am torn over this.

Freerepublic.com has the smartest people in the world.

If you were to make the best BLT in the world tonight, what would you use?

I am quite serious about this.

Another vote for Hellman's/Best Foods.

And salt and pepper your tomatoes. I'm partial to butter lettuce, but romaine will do in a pinch.

And if I add a slice of swiss or cheddar (heretical, I know), I like a good swipe of dijon mustard too.

Best Foods mayonnaise west of the Rockies aka Helmans' Mayonnaise east of 'em.

Its the best for sammiches, potatoe salad, egg salad and other food uses.

Oh my gosh, did you grow up in California? I did, moved East in 7th grade, but will never forget that Tuna and MW were made for each other!! Never thought to try in Deviled Eggs... So far for me it's Mayo on everything EXCEPT Tuna!!!

Well, there can’t be too much wrong with you, you are a FReeper after all. If this helps, Obama prefers Miracle Whip.

Hellman’s mayonnaise

Had to put up with that Miracle crap during the 50's during hard times because it was cheaper than Hellman's. Swore I'd never touch that crap again.

Miracle Whip, mayonnaise is gross.
Even the generic store brands that knock off Miracle Whip are better that any mayonnaise. ;-)

I dislike mayonnaise, but I serously have a burning hatred for Miracle Whip. My mom LOVES the stuff and put it on every sandwich while I was growing up. In fact she used to make Miracle Whip (only) sandwiches. I’m throwing up a bit just thinking about it.

Ginger, or Mary Anne.

I still can't get Mary Anne out of my head. I used to have to run to the bathroom...

One time I was making tuna salad sandwiches and found I had no mayo (Hellman’s, btw), but only had Miracle Whip, I just gave the tuna to the cat.

Lived in Cal while in the navy in 71-73. In NH now. Miracle whip has its uses. It is basically mayo with vinegar and sugar, which is the basis for deviled eggs (plus mustard and paprika).

Tuna goes well with a little sweet and sour. BLT does not.

A BLT simply isn't a BLT without Miracle Whip. For years, I never could understand why my bacon and tomato sandwiches did not taste as good as Mom's. And I finally discovered the reason was because she used Miracle Whip.

(btw, ditch the lettuce)
