Bet he smiled the day Junior won..finally.;-]
-a little edit-
72-year-old Linda Chase (for the Cup) says she kept Charles Zigler's body clean (and dressed in his finest Nascar attire), and talked to him while they watched television Bill O'Really religiously.

Something smells about this story.

Maybe she was lonely, but she also was cashing his checks. Not sure her story about loneliness is believable... unless she made herself believe it.I think she did believe it. If her intent in cashing the checks was fraud, why keep the body around? I'm not excusing the check cashing, but I think this woman definitely needs help.

A Rose for Emily.
Faulkner sucks.

My Dad was an architect for the State and when I was very young he had to go to Jackson Prison to do an inspection for a rebuild after a riot.
While he was there the BIG riot broke out and he was locked in for a few days with several other civilians and a slew of armed guards protecting them.
He spent a lot of time there after the inmates destroyed a large portion of the prison and he had to design entire sections.

Armed services edition. Why are they distributing a Rose for Emily?

Ha! Very good, my love! Poor Homer and poor Miss Emily. Brother Will’s eyes would have twinkled over this, his story come to life. I’ll send it on to Meg F. Sort of ironic that the Faulkner Conference ended yesterday.

Maybe she was just lonely. Or maybe she thought she could fool people into thinking he was alive (i.e. “Weekend at Bernie’s”). It’s a sad story, though, all around.

They aren’t anymore. These ASE’s were small paperbacks issued from 1943 to 1946. They were designed to provide entertainment to soldiers serving overseas in WWII.

She won’t be alone in prison.

Did he enjoy watching NASCAR? Because that’s what’s most important.

She has not been arrested but is being investigated for financial fraud. Chase admits cashing Ziglers benefit checks after his death. Yep. She realized that the checks would stop as soon as he was reported dead, and her not being married to him meant she had no widow's benefits.

(Eric Holder's NAACP rally against the voter ID laws required the press to bring govt issue photo ID.)
