While there is an arguement to be made it may be a necessity around the Los Angeles area, I can’t help but notice how it doesn’t cut through Hollywood.
Very few sane people would go from San Jose to LA via Modesto, Fresno and Santa Barbara. Doesn’t that double the distance and hurt Gaia?
And all that SF Bay area stuff will be by bus because they cannot accommodate high speed anything
It’s too inexpensive. Maybe connect Santa Rosa to Eugene Oregon...make dotted line from OR/CA border north.
It’s going via Santa Barbara instead of Palmdale now?
Pretty sure this does not go to San Diego.
Clever. Knew I should probably not be posting after a bottle of wine ~.~
HIgh-speed rail from the Bay Area to Truckee and then Reno would be a dream for skiers and the Reno gambling establishment. And they have the money to pay for it.
I look forward to enterprising businessmen - and I may be one of them - coming along to salvage this fustercluck from the unions and re-orient it to the aforementioned far more useful purpose.
Will this train stop at Babara Streisands house?
[Very few sane people would go from San Jose to LA via Modesto, Fresno and Santa Barbara.]
The immediate purpose is not transportation but inflating the value of acreage that the state will purchase for right of way. It would be interesting to know who owns land or owns options in the proposed corridor.
Sane people are a diminishing constituency in Klownifornia
Where is Willie Green’s house?
Not too many LA-bound travelers from Santa Ana would be going through San Bernardino.
Uh, sorry to ask an uncomfortable question, but what do these libs expect will POWER the trains? Wind turbines? Solar? Biodiesel? Groan.
How close does it get to Disneyland?
Could be a real boon for many not wanting to drive or doing the TSA grope.
But then again getting ON the train will be probably a security hassle. Also I bet luggage will be frowned upon, commuters only perhaps?
Only the wealthy liberal elites traveling from the city to their rural castles?
I know Modesto very good, was a decent place in some respects back around 1990, I say semi-decent because even then getting a job was a hassle. What Modesto has evolved into and I would guess is to have a large amount of medical facilities, many Modestoans commute to the Bay Area, housing is somewhat cheaper in Modesto but its also heavily infiltrated by south of the border immigrants.
Personally I would never ever go back there, I had to fly there last year when my mother passed away, it has seriously degraded in 20 years from when I lived there briefly.
Southwest Airlines goes from Sacramento to San Diego in a straight line, at 500 mph, at least 3 times a day.
Why would I want or need a train?
Californians need to put a stop to this.
