Woman Accuses LAPD of Rough Arrest, Department Launches Investigation (VIDEO)

Surveillance video from a Del Taco not far from where Michelle Jordan, 34, was stopped by police has prompted an internal investigation into how LAPD handled the arrest, which the woman says was unnecessarily rough.

Update, Aug. 29: Officer Stripped of Rank in Alleged Rough Arrest

The security video -- obtained exclusively by NBC4 -- shows a patrol car pull up at about 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 21 near Foothill Boulevard at Saluda in the Tujunga area.

Police say they pulled her over for allegedly using her cell phone while driving. It looks like a routine traffic stop, until Jordan gets out of her vehicle.

"She made some unwise moves," said her attorney Sy Nazif. "But certainly nothing that warranted a physical assault from the LAPD."

Moments after Jordan, of Sunland, gets out of the car, officers put her in handcuffs. After some discussion, perhaps argumentative by Jordan's own account, one of the officers throws her to the pavement, head first.

"A short time later while still handcuffed another encounter occurred between Jordan and the officers and she was taken to the ground a second time," according to a statement released by LAPD Tuesday night.

Totally uncalled for! I have 30 years in Law enforcement and can not believe what I am seeing with these idiot cops today! The three shootings by the NYPD recently have astounded me! First was the dog protecting his owner on a crowded street, second was the guy with the knife in Times Square, lots of bystanders and then the “active” shooter with the jammed pistol where 9 by standers did get shot and now this? WTF is wrong with these idiots? This woman could have done nothing to harm these to pricks. What ever happened to using the LEAST amount of force to control the situation? I hope these two get thrown in jail for aggravated assault, illegal detention, abuse of authority. These two acted outside of the scope of their duties.

She jumped out of the car and got right in their faces cussing a blue streak, then tried to go back to her car. They were putting her in cuffs and it went to the ground while she resisted, not that violent and all caused by her.
Then later she was back beside the police car as they were putting her in the backseat, and something happened that can’t be seen on video and the fight started again. She was taken to the ground again. Cop went down with her in the struggle.

This woman is no innocent victim. Everything a cop does is not automatically wrong, if you get out and fight them, you should expect them to fight back,,,harder.

Maybe if you can’t restrain a little girl without resorting to violence, perhaps you should find other work.

The other story here I read with video today shows a Minnesota officer taze, mace, and then football kick a guy in the head while he is on the ground. The punishment needs to fit the crime as I am seeing more and more of this in the news.

Taxpayers pay the price in these cases. For every video of an event like this, many have no video to witness the assault. The officers need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. In this case some prison time is called for and they should never wear the uniform of a police officer ever again. In this case, attempted murder could be brought. She was handcuffed and thrown directly on her head. There was a young lady reported recently that was handcuffed and tazed to the ground like this and she died. She was like 18 or 19.

“the first tackle looks like she was resisting after trying to get back into her car. How do the cops know she isn’t going to flee and start a high speed chase?”

More likely they were worried about the more immediate danger of a highly belligerent person gaining access to the passenger compartment where she has a gun on the seat. Traffic stops often DO turn into shootouts when people like her are allowed to get out cussing up a blue streak, and get in and out of their car at will.
There are numerous youtube videos of cops getting murdered by a mouthy type like her, heading back inside their car as they please.

It government VS us mentality.

Government now sees private sector America as a threat, a group to rob and loot, and those stupid enough who dare question government authority, will face beatings, jail and death.

On the first tackle, she took a couple steps before going down. She wasn't picked up and body slammed like those big, burly guys could do to such a "little girl." It indicates resistance on her part. Don't forget that anyone can carry a weapon or get back in their car and drive away putting others in danger. You put the same bias on this situation as the MSM did in the Trayvon Martin case when he was depicted as a "little boy."

Taken the ground?

She was freaking thrown the pavement face first.

Her GD head bounced off the pavement.

All while HANDCUFFED

Good grief!

Her Attorney says that she made some “unwise” movements. What was she doing exactly besides cussing at the police?

There was no reason to slam her on the ground the second time with the full weight of the cop on top of her unless she was reaching for a weapon or trying to swallow drugs.

It is apparent complaining has been a waste of time and effort, for the abuse grows greater and more frequent. I believe these words from his ‘Musings’ should be given greater consideration;

‘Crimes committed against us are no less crimes because of the uniform or sign of authority the criminal wears, and all such criminals, regardless of their rank or position, must be dealt with by the People most quickly and severely, least their crimes grow bolder and more numerous.’ -Veteratoris-

Americans are not the enemy. People talking on the cell phones or mouthing back to a cop should not be subject to beating and being thrown to the GD pavement head first, while their hands are cuffed behind their backs! That can kill someone.

She was not a terrorist. She was not a mass murderer.

You better watch that video again.

These GD cops are out of control.

Oh yeah, she was potentially a very bad desperado. The fact that her crime was "talking on a cell phone while driving", suggests those officers are lucky to be going home alive. Fortunately they did what they had too, to ensure going home safe that day. /s

“In this case, attempted murder could be brought”

That would make as much sense as charging her with attempted murder for trying to get back into her car after she was out fighting with them. All they did was stop her. Looks on the video that both times she took the whole sorry mess to the ground with her kicking, running, struggling thing.

If the cops started kicking her in the head or something when she was doing nothing, then ok. But that struggle was in no way an attempt to murder her.

.. what is it with women and cell phones? Can’t they shut up for 15 minutes and drive?

Rarely, apparently   ;-)

I don't worry about that, because I'm not a sissy with an authority complex.

The video most certainly does NOT show her head bounce off the pavement. And she has an abrasion on her cheek. And she was not “thrown” headfirst on the video i saw. She was struggling and she and the cop BOTH went to the ground. Her feet contacted first, then knees, then body. I’m sure it wasnt fun for her with 200 lbs of cop on top of her as they hit, but she was not even thrown headfirst to the ground.

Your case of the fainting vapors and hyperventilating won’t make it so. I saw the video too, it is what it is, and nothing more. Please don’t make up your own facts.

In part I agree with you, however, there is no need for such additional, layer-upon-layer laws. I encourage you to look up “Inattentive Driving” violation. I’m willing to bet all 57 states have this law already on the books.

And yes, I totally agree, whenever I see someone driving (badly) and talking on a cell phone I always turn and tell my kids, “She’s too busy talking on the phone to worry about driving right now”.
