Houston area investigators are looking into a stand-your-ground case where after a minor fender-bender, a 22-year-old white male was shot and killed by a 23-year-old black woman. During a morning commute, Crystal Scott and Jonathan Ables were in an accident and pulled into a Shell gasoline station to survey the damage.
According to Scott, Ables exited his truck and ran toward her driver-side door. Scott said he yelled and then hit her door and tried to open it. Fearing for her life, Scott pulled her pistol and shot Ables once through the driver’s window and struck him in the chest. Ables died at the scene.
A Harris County Sheriff’s spokesman, Sgt. Felipe Rivera said “From what we understand it was maybe just a minor accident,” while adding, “The information we’re getting is that it appeared to be a minor accident that turned into road rage.”

An eyewitness, who appeared on camera but has requested anonymity, said that he did not hear any threat in the seconds before Scott killed Ables. The witness was pumping gas and standing 15 feet away from Ables when a bullet ricocheted past him and struck his car. The bullet left a noticeable impression on the witness’s car.
As for Scott’s version of events, the witness said that if Ables had shouted or banged on the car, he would have heard it. “What drew my attention was the gunshot,” said the witness. “I just want to be sure that I do everything in my power that everything is fair. I care about it being fair,” he said. The Harris County sheriff’s department has not yet responded to Spero News’ request for any security footage of the shooting.

The drive by media. I saw pictures on FB of his funeral today. He had siblings. They look like a nice family. Sad. I wonder what would have been her reaction if she hadn’t carried? One shot in fear can be argued. Three in this case? If there are casings outside the car, she shot from outside. A screaming woman getting dragged from a car makes a LOT of noise. The Truth lies somewhere in between.
It’s troubling how many road ragers there are out there. A woman hit my son’s car yesterday on the freeway. She was going 75, braked and slid into his car going 25. Thank God he is okay other than whiplash and his brand new (3 week-old car) wrecked in the back. It was rush hour traffic and some jerk (my kid couldn’t move his car) pulls up beside him and screams the f-word and tells him to move his car. A middle-aged woman screams the f-word at him when he was in front of her and tried to merge. It’s getting worse out there.
The statements in posts 296 and 297 are the closest to ground zero. One came from speaking to the family.
The family need to get in to the prosecutor and make sure all of the facts and only the facts are presented to the Grand Jury.
I guess what they need to do is unfortunately hire an attorney to be their mouthpiece.
The Drive-by media was hysterical about the “hate crime” (i think that these “hate crime laws” are unnecessary IMHO) against the 19 year-old “Jewish” Michigan State student who was allegedly assaulted by “Nazi”, “heil Hitler” guys, has turned out to be NOT a “hate crime”. I’ve found TWO articles, that’s it, with the conclusion of the investigation. The Anti-Defamation League of that area, released a statement that they were confident that in the interviews of all the witnesses, this was NOT a hate crime. In the article, the writer says that they could not reach the family (the student and his very vocal dad, an attorney) for comment. Heck, the kid has an active twitter account and is twitter constantly about basketball. There were holes in that story that didn’t make sense. He was knocked out, but remembers the Heil-Hitler stuff. He said no one helped him, yet witnesses helped him get a cab. He said it happened in the house and he stumbled out. Witnesses said no one knew this kid and it happened on the sidewalk in the front. Point being, the Drive-bys hyped it up, countless stories on the Nazi angle and now MEDIA SILENCE. The report is out with the non-hate crime and it didn’t happen the way the kid (whom was underage drinking) said it happened. He was assaulted without the embellishment with one punch and was helped. IMHO, he remembered probably not a lot being tipsy and knocked out and he embellished as to not make his parents ticked at him. The msm whom reported this story world wide is not doing their diligence in reporting that there was NO HATE crime and even the ADL released a statement saying so.
This is sad. No one should have to bury their child. IMHO this is two people that made poor decisions, one whose life was ended. I just hope the facts come out, without the “racial tint” attached. Obviously, the shooter’s family is out in the public for the PR spin as I imagine that’s what one in her situation would do. The deceased man’s family is in mourning. I just pray that justice is done for all. The MSM is fairly silent in this. Could be a tip that all is not as it appears for the shooter. (IMHO based on previous MSM hysteria reporting)
According to County Criminal/Traffic records, he drives crappy, but no arrests for any type of violence.
This is the “hate crime” beating I was referring to. Victim: Zach Tennen, 19, Michigan State. Said it was Nazis that asked him is was Jewish. They “broke his jaw” and “stapled his mouth”. All over the net in this Country and Israel.
Very silent once it started leaking out all was not as Zach and his attorney father painted it. Injured he was, by an 18 year-old who punched him once and broke his jaw. ADL and Prosecutor says no hate crime. No comment from parents and the 19 year-old victim who twitters constantly. How they can not get a comment from a frequently twittering kid, I don’t know. But here is the story. Have to dig to find update. Only two, this, and a Michigan State update are the only ones I can find.

The body was apparently supine [face up] 35 feet from her car with feet towards his vehicle and head towards her car, per the link.
No known arrests for violence; nothing on his record to suggest violence. However, this does appear to be a road rage incident by both parties, and according to the Tomball, TX police reports, Ables' 1/13/2011 marijuana arrest took place because police found pot on him when arresting him because of outstanding arrest warrants (plural). We have no idea what those arrest warrants were for.
His 2008 pot arrest had already been handled by 2011, so the warrants weren't about that.
I don't place a lot of credit in anonymous commenters on websites, although others in this thread have already 'solved' this matter based on two anonymous comments on a website. If we take anonymous comments into account, one commenter says that he's known Ables since high school and the guy gets into altercations.
Another said "I knew Jonathan ables and he was aggressive when mad and I don't believe he is innocent at all I knew him personally."
Note that the shooter also had driving citations as well.
I looked at the traffic (JP court). For some reason, he FAILED to show up at court when he would get ticketed. Then the warrant would be issued. There are at least 10 entries in Traffic Court for the tickets (one incident), then another entry for NO SHOW and warrant issued, then another for disposition. I also looked in the Criminal Court which is what you posted. I haven’t seen anything about her driving ability.
They both were playing games, and one died. Awful.

You REALLY don't want to go there. I mentioned to Uncle Chip that one of the many news stories (almost all of which have additional or conflicting information) said that Ables ran from the shooter's car after being shot, the dropped and died.
When I didn't immediately take the time to sort through everything to find that story for him, he accused me of making it up and spouting B.S.
I hate to guess. I personally don’t think he made it to her car. He was coming toward and she shot. I just pray that justice is done in this case.
If true then it is puzzling. That's why the photos of the crime scene and the location for the three shell casings will be important to show where she was when the gun was discharged.
It is hard to believe that after the discharge of the gun from within the car that missed him and went into the car frame that he then didn't head back to his car at that time.
Would a reasonable person after being shot at just stand around her car and continue pounding on it waiting for another shot???
The two bullets that killed him were administered outside the car. His body was not found near the car but 35 feet away. It is hard to believe that he could walk or stumble 35 feet with two bullets in his chest.
Forensically that will be interesting.

I’m a firm supporter of “stand your ground” but if the guy didn’t have a weapon then I’m all for a full investigation.....Let justice prevail

There is weird, media silence on this case. Nothing new posted (exception blogger and FR) and I can’t find any news story about the deceased’s funeral. It’s drive by media and move on.
