Without teachers, every generation would have to start by discovering fire and inventing the wheel.

That article was stupid when it was printed and even more stupid today, in my opinion. I remember seeing articles like that back in the 60’s, and they were way off base, still are.

There are, indeed, two types of people in this world: those who divide people into two categories, and those who don’t.

I wasn't alive in the 60’s, but I'd consider myself a rocker that really likes The Who and I'm seeing them in Pittsburgh in November!
I saw them in ‘89 as a teen in Buffalo and it was THE BEST live show ever! I'm not sure what to expect this many years later with no John Entwistle... :(

It was a different thing in america. the mod vs rocker thing did not exist in america.
Here it was greaser vs preppie. Greasers were blue collar boys who worked their way through high school. They worked evenings at a trade while going to school in the day. The preppies went for all the sports and didnt’ work. After highschool preppies either went to college or they went to west point.
A greaser was a boy who worked in a trade that got him greasy fingernails. A preppie was a boy who was preparing for college. their wheels were not so disimilar in america as they were in england.
preppies had newer cars and did not ride motorcycles.
greasers had old cars, heavily modified...and harley motorcycles heavily modified, and english motorcycles heavily modified.
Both greasers and preppies were equally adept at fighting. Both greasers and preppies were equally adept at racing. Both greasers and preppies were equally adept at scoring chicks.
The rivalry was not like that in england.
