This site has been a frustrating disaster for the last week. What the he'll is going on? I can't get the page to load but 1 of 4 attempts. I'm about to give up, and I've been a member since 1998.
Please tell me this will be fixed before Tuesday!!
I’m in Australia, been a member since 2003. The last few weeks have been almost impossible.
But late in the afternoon Aussie Eastern Daylight Savings time, it suddenly comes good!
(But there’s no one there to comunicate with, because all you Americans have gone to bed...)
Normal speed and posting right now. Many timeouts 2 hours ago.
Maybe they got the cord stuck bask where it belongs.
John suspected a problem and made some changes in the configuration tonight that may have helped. Probably won’t know for sure until tomorrow. But he said the database load suddenly shot way up when he made the change (it had been idling before). Praying for the best.

Sounds good. I had just turned off all sidebars a little bit ago, thinking that was part of the speedup. Sounds like it was merely coincidental, but maybe still a good idea for the next few days.
Well, I kept getting “Time out” when I came home about 830 for a bite to eat. I even posted on http://altfreerepublic.freeforums.org/index.php?sid=0d4f277e41e9b7fe7e240ebdda87c090 to see if anyone else had problems.
I wish I could say that.
Last ten minutes the response time has been vastly improved. Go John.
I haven’t had any problems this week& am loading faster since I took Jim’s recommendation on reducing the extras around the edges!
I’m in San Jose I think near you, and I’m having tons of problems. First time all day that I’ve been on.
Might just be because most everyone gave up and went to bed .. like me very shortly .. lol
Good luck with it, fellas .. having a zippy FR for Tue would be beyond outstanding !

All other sites that I have visited have been fine. No problem with them. Free Republic must be having issues.
Very slow this morning...seems to be better now. I’m in SoCal so maybe less traffic cause east coast has gone to bed. :-)

I’m not disagreeing with anyone about how arduous, difficult
to interact with Free Republic can be. But sometimes some computer tweaking makes it just a little less so.
It is not at all clear to me why a Unix TRACEROUTE shows FR's Domain Name Servers (DNSs) to be in GERMANY...!
