The “new” Star Trek is trash. JJ Abrams is a Star Wars loving fiend.

Yep, plus what kind of Federation depends on a twenty-something for salvation?

Dumb plot, unidimensional characters (a second dimension is too much to ask for from Abrams), but loads of action and over-the-top CGI.

For $1.00 I’ll rent it on a night I don’t feel like thinking.

New Kirk came across as a genius?

He reminds me of New Coke.

Don’t tell me Watson is a transvestite? I loved the British version, but is the American version weird?

LOL, that’s Lucy Liu. Apparently Watson is an Asian female. This is from the show Elementary. I don’t know if there is another American version of Sherlock on tv right now.

turning Uhura into a slut was a good thing?

I would never watch that movie again

It is a slightly more mature version of the new “kid” movies where the adults are idiots and the kids save everything, or the dystopian novels where the teenagers in love save society. College grads with no future want to be the next tech savior / social savior, and the Star Trek reboot gives them that fantasy outlet. Never mind a military consortium with millions of members picked from the best of all species - the barely graduated guy is the solution.

Lol, Uhura was not a slut. She is dating Spock in the movie and they kiss. Slut???

Saying the transporter would render starships obsolete, is like saying jet aircraft render giant aircraft carriers obsolete. The largest object I recall them beaming anywhere was a whale, and you still need firepower and to control a location in order to beam to a transporter located there. it’s never been shown or suggested in any of the shows or movies that the transporter room does away with the need for space travel via ships. It certainly is implied that the transporter is limited in distance and payload.

Besides the casting of the new Kirk and the new Bones i thought EVERYTHING about the new Star Trek was complete Garbage.
This Abrams clown is seriously overated.

good analogy EEG.. thanks for the ping Evening Star. Several trailers in theaters have been appealing. Of course I enjoy most movies of this genre.

Thanks. :)

I’m looking forward to the new flick as well. I really like Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I get enough reality in the real world.
