"....AMC has released this first look image of series star Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes -- with a walker notably lurking in the background -- to hype the new season. As if the biggest show on TV needs any more hype.

Fans curious to see what's going on with Carl, Daryl, Michonne and the rest -- not to mention where the heck the Governor is at -- will have to wait. But for now take a look at the full first look image......\

I spent most of season 2 thinking that Rick and Lori are the worst parents ever. Get in the house, Carl! Meanwhile...

>See the pic at post #8. It just looks like a zombie to me. One wearing a dress and a jacket that’s too big.<

Are you certain that isn’t Michonne?

I know its early in the show, and supposedly not much time has elapsed since the outbreak. But they are dealing with mommy issues, daddy issues, ex boyfriend issues, etc, etc, and a lot of dialog is not much different than if this was a show like 30 something or such, and their worst problems are their feelings. They need to deal with zombie issues, then set about rebuilding civilization, not explore their feelings.

A lot of dialog in the early episodes was about how they don't want to face the future with the world like that, and a couple of them commit suicide. But it comes off as really whiney to me. Yes, things stink, and most of the population of the Earth is dead. But 11,000 years ago about 50 families walked over here from Siberia and populated the whole hemisphere. Epidemics only a hundred and fifty years ago would kill millions. My great grandparents, who were quite a bit like the farmer, would take a look at this situation and think, "What's the big deal?"

It looks like it could possibly be [Possible Spoiler for Season 3 follows. Highlight if you want to read: Lori. The hair looks similar. The white dress looks similar to how Rick had been imagining her. I don't know about the coat, though. [/End possible spoilers.]

It's generally acknowledged that season 2 was the worst for the reasons you cite but don't give up - it gets better in season 3.

Long hair, pants, a shear dress(?) or something over the pants, and a suit coat!

I’m just goofing around - but it sure is odd. Too thin of material to be a butcher’s apron or some-such.

I find that they are always just wandering off and getting into trouble

I suspect that's why the writers turned down Darryl's request for a dog and gave him a new crossbow instead.......

I’m convinced I’m the only person who loved the season on the farm, LOL.

For me, it’s about the character-driven drama; the walkers are what fuels that. But if you’re really into the zombie action, the next season should be good....one of the producers says the group will realize they’ve become too complacent about the zombie threat.

It isn't like I want a zombie slasher fest all the time, that would be just as boring. I just kind of hope that they will stop acting like they are still in pre-zomie days. Watching all of these I can't help but think of what I would be doing, and whining isn't on the list.

There is a great tension available in zombie movies, because there are a couple of things that are in conflict, but no zombie movie ever seems to use it. First, zombies are everywhere, and the people left need to hide and protect themselves from them. But also, civilization has ended, and the survivors need to prepare to rebuild civilization, which forces them to go out of hiding and prepare.

No one is making more food, refining more gasoline, etc. The gasoline they have available does not stay good forever, it goes stale in a matter of months to a year. After that, no cars are available. Previous to the mid 1800s, people were born, lived, and died within about a 20-30 mile circle. It was that hard to travel. After gasoline goes, it would be the same. So what they need to do is decide where they want to live the rest of their lives, and go there. Then they need to collect as much useful things so that they can rebuild civilization, all while fighting zombies.

To me rebooting civilization is much more interesting, and I think would be very popular with the amount of prepping going on in real life. Have some episodes where they try to build a steam engine, so that when the gasoline finally runs out, they can run things on steam and don't go back to pre-industrial society. Fight off zombies while trying to save books from deteriorating so they can teach the kids how things worked.

I see what you mean, and come to think of it, I did read that Season 4 will be more about rebuilding society.

Thank you, she's a nice cat. She's very well behaved and won't step off the deck unless it's to catch a vole or baby rabbit she sees around the edges. I have to keep an eye on her for that since on a few occasions she's brought those critters into the house and dropped them on the carpeting alive..........LOL!
