Ford Mustang hit by Moore, OK EF5 tornado lives to do another burnout.

Oklahoma recently saw the destructive power of an EF5 tornado, but in the aftermath of the devastation, we've also been witness to the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Moore, OK resident Jack Haden survived the storm but found that his 2003 Ford Mustang wasn't quite as lucky. As you can see in the image above, the tornado's 200+ mph winds did quite a number on the car, but while most people would have likely called their insurance company and scrapped the car, Haden had other plans.

After finding the car and seeing that its V6 still fired up, Haden spent a couple hours getting the car, um... roadworthy(?)... by removing the doors and front clip, cutting off the roof and putting on some new wheels and tires. He noticed that driving it around brought some comic relief to an area that needed a reason to laugh and smile. Check out the KSBI TV news report video below showing before and after pictures of the tough 'Stang, as well as a video showing the newly lightweight coupe doing a smoky burnout.

LOL! Quite a burnout.

They could probably save that Mustang with some Bondo and a little rubbing compound:)

Could use it to power a New Orleans Mardi Gras or Rosebowl parade Float.

After EF5

I'll bet that there are some wanting to build underground garages as well as houses thereabouts!

At a Nascar race about 15 years ago, Dale Earnhardt wrecked hard, hit both inside and outside walls and I think he rolled it. His car looked a bit like this Mustang. The camera’s cut from the safety crew to the pits. Suddenly, the Black Number 3 was rolling into the pits to the shock of the announcers. After the race was over, they interviewed Dale. He said “I was stepping into the ambulance when I saw that the car had all four wheels on it. A track worker was inside the car and I asked him to turn the key. It fired up and I said “get out of my car, I’m going racing.”

That ain’t no burnout, that’s a mobile insect fogger slash smoke screen generator”! All she needs is a little bit of the Handymans Secret Weapon to make hold ‘er all together!

How do we know that the car wasn’t this damaged prior to the tornado?

This is exactly what an insurance company’s structural engineer asked me after examining my damaged house post Hurricane Sandy.

Ford ought to offer him a brand new Mustang in exchange. This one is a pretty good rolling testamonial to quality car building.

Put a little *Fix-A-Flat* in the left rear and he's ready to run.

Did you answer, “Because I would have put my claim in earlier, that’s how.”

The car should be a parade float all by itself.
Additional decorations should be small or sparse so parade spectators can see the car itself.
