Not holding one in the chamber saves lives. It gives the other party a final chance to reassess should they not be clear on how to act when facing the barrel of a gun or rifle. You must not have seen “Rifleman” enough as a kid. Or seen so many movies showing shotguns made ready as the last warning saying “Really, I mean business.”
Anyone defending the ultimate mall cop wannabe is dangerous in my opinion. Georgie wasn’t gonna let this bad guy get away, despite knowing he shouldn’t approach on foot. And knowing he wasn’t supposed to be packing as a volunteer for the neighborhood busy body patrol.
BTW just yesterday I was packing on my property, exchanged words with someone and they took off after me. What did I do? I ran. What would I do if he didn’t stop running after me? Draw down on him. If he continued? Rack em up. Issue a loud commanding order to freeze. And then if he continues the assault? Shoot to stop.

It will be a travesty of justice if the completely unremorseful p.o.s. Zimwad is not convicted of at least manslaughter. Nobody jumped out of the bushes at him. Nobody said “What’s your problem?” The teen said “Why you following me?” To which, (although he should not have been there in the first place) the only answer should have been “I’m George Zimmerman, neighborhood watch.” Georgie never claimed to legitimize himself to the reasonably frightened teen, who, as it turned out, had a very good reason to fear for his life.
