How many girls dream of looking like Barbie when they grow up – only to realize it’s physically impossible?
Estimates of what a woman would look like if she had Barbie’s measurements rack up – so to speak – at about 39”-20”-33″. She would be 6 to 7 feet tall and only weigh about 100 to 108 pounds.
Photographer and artist Nickolay Lamm aimed to answer this question recently by creating 3D images of a Barbie doll with a “real-life”. Lamm used CDC measurements for the average American 19-year-old female in creating his doll – she has a 33.6-inch waist and weighs 150 pounds.
I adored Barbie as much as the next middle class white kid, but after gazing at Lamm’s doll for a minute, it was the archetype that looked strange.
These images exemplify the bizarre and fictitious ideals girls and boys grow up with. I’m not even sure what Mattel’s motivation is in keeping Barbie’s crazy measurements – wouldn’t a more realistic version sell just as well? We’re not even getting into the cultural and racial diversity Barbie lacks.

no real women can be a barbie and be alive. the dimensions are impossible and when you remove the brain, they always die.
now, do men like attractive women? of course. do women like to look at attractive men? of course! there are objective qualities of what men and women view as attractiveness. there are some subjective ones, say a real tall person may be less attracted to a really short person, especially if the woman is taller, that kind of thing. but overall there are universal objective qualities to beauty. everyone notices and everyone looks.
i have never heard a guy as long as i have lived say he wants a girl just like barbie. i have heard them wishing for certain women that were attractive to them.
if their wife was a freaky thin vegan on their wedding day, but started eating real food, she might look a lot better with 45 pounds and genuine curves.

Barbie is a toy made by Mattel. The Huffington Post and alike drags up this story so often to blast women; in a claim they want to copy this plastic doll. They are mostly targeting the little kids. Don’t play with toy dolls. Be more generic with your imagination like the things they teach them in public schools. Most kids who played with this doll had fun and have no desires to copy her.
The doll is a toy. The Number One Barbie doll or the First Issue Barbie that was shown at Toy Fair back in 1959, to buy on the secondary market now sells from $2500.00 to $8900.00 depending if the doll has no damage and completed with box, head liner, and accessories. There is one prototype redhair Number One Barbie that sold for $50,000. The doll was never produced on line.
The doll has a long historical aspect.
The feminists have been after this doll since the 1960’s.
The leftist are pushing this story; the radical feminists because the doll conveys individually/ expression of fun and imagination/ which does not apparently fit their agenda.
Those kind of pictures in your post are from/made by people who detest the doll in thinking parents should not give this toy doll to their little girls because she has a proportional body size though, the size is made to FIT her clothing line so little girls and adult collectors can change the doll’s clothing. They don’t make a Barbie in jail, a Barbie who smokes, a Barbie that is risky for kids. Barbie has the healthy image the feminists are trying to distort. Mattel keeps changing the body because the feminist say that her body is too thin and girls want to be like a doll. Going on for years. The haters who make such pics and post those images on line is to attack Mattel. Don’t give them satisfaction nor help.

The Barbie doll is 11 1/2” tall (and is standing on tiptoe); this works out to 5’ 9” in high heeled shoes, not at all unreasonable for a young woman of the baby-boomer generation.
Ken and the first GI Joes were also 11 1/2” tall, or scale 5’ 9”, about average for young men in the 1950’s and early 60’s. Current GI Joe’s are 12” tall, or 6’ at 1/6 scale. More realistically proportioned 1/6th scaled figures, both male and female, are currently available.
