The indoctrination has been going on for some time
You can’t take away freedom overnight- people WOULD riot in the streets
you take it a little at a time
Communists are proud of every tiny little step ‘forward’ they make, even if they realize it could be a 100 year process they may never live to see (that’s a special kind of derangement)

According to
IMDB, Jack Lord was "a dedicated liberal activist [and] vocal advocate of gun control in the United States." Which I admit takes away a little from my enjoyment of the original Hawaii Five-O series.

That was pretty much the prevailing trend in the 60’s and early 70’s. Things like the Death Wish movies and Bernie Goetz turned the tide.

He was married twice (#2 for half a century). Talk about your loyal beard!
To: Menehune56
Nah, just think of all those episodes where he walked into a shabby rental full of dope-smoking hippies — he’d start questioning one of them who just rambled on about expanding his mind and that crap, so eventually McGarrett would just grab him by the shoulders and shake him like a rag doll while yelling at him, “What’s the matter with you! You gonna be HOPPED UP ON SMACK YOUR WHOLE LIFE!?” Now that’s entertainment.

I read in several places that Jack Webb was a conservative who died embittered over the social unrest and leftist politics of the late sixties and early seventies. I remember when Dragnet was revived for its second run, in one episode Webb/Friday delivered a passionate defense of the police and a passionate critique of left-wing anti-police gripes.

Hawaii 5-0 was voted one of the most violent tv shows at the time.

I watched a couple of the Death Wish movies very recently. Charles Bronson was great.

Jack Lord was a loud mouthed proponent of civilian disarmament. He became very rich from % O and lived in a gated mansion on Black Point in Honolulu and definitely wanted the peasants kept disarmed. He also was a major cop wannabe from his TV land performance and believed only LEO’s should have guns. A detestable man all around.
