Finally, An Advancement In Peanut Butter Jar Technology

Does that last bit of mayonnaise or peanut butter at the bottom of a jar really bother you? I usually hand the jar over to my dog and let her take care of it, but for some reason not everyone has a dog. That’s why some entrepreneurs have harnessed the technology behind deodorant sticks to eliminate this problem.

” Great packaging evolution!”

I hope it turns out better than those damnedable ketchup bottles that you have to squeeze with enough force that when it comes out it blows whatever you’re putting it on off of the plate.

I just run a knife around most of those liners. Same with pet food bags. I can never get the string thing to open on dog food and the glued end is impossible to rip by hand. Knives are wonderful things.

Drop a couple of heaping spoons-full of Cool Whip into the jar and stir it around a bit. The peanut butter mixes with the Cool Whip and the jar comes clean, with the help of a scraping spatula of course. Haven’t found a kid yet that wouldn’t help with that job of cleaning out the jar ...

Two things:

If manufacturers would put peanut butter in straight side jars the last remnants wouldn't be so devilish to extract; but the shape is probably related to the plastic surviving the temps and pressures during canning.

Used peanut butter jars make good 'collection' jars for garbage at the sink, like veggie peels and used tea bags and K-cups, because you can tighten the lid and toss them in the trash when full of garbage and the garbage can doesn't stink for the period before being hauled out to the rubbish bin. I use quart yogurt containers this way too.

Oh yeah, and I nearly live off of peanut butter. I even stir a couple of tablespoons of it into my oatmeal.

Do you dribble a little honey on your peanut butter and banana sandwich?....Sometimes, but she works a lot.

Well, since you like Elvis's favorite sandwich, I'll share the following quick and delicious recipe for peanut butter banana pie.

One Graham cracker pie crust (put it in the freezer for a day before using it)

One large container of Cool Whip (the big one, not the eight ounce one)

Two packages of Jello Instant Banana Pudding

One quart of Vanilla Yogurt

Two large banana, allowed to get soft but not brown peel

Five or six heaping tablespoons of peanut butter (I use smooth Bama brand)

Cut the bananas into 1/2 thick slices and fold them into the yogurt, then pour both packets of pudding mix into the yogurt bowl and beat with a whisk or stand mixer until all dry ingredients incorporated into the yogurt ... it gets really stiff very quickly, leaving small chunks of banana to find when eating. Spread the pudding into the graham cracker crust and refrigerate. Fold the six spoons of peanut butter into the thawed Cool Whip and top the pie making peaks. Put in fridge until ready to eat it. Great fridge pie!

Both Trader Joe’s and Skippy had salmonella problems, and a recall:

Yes, at time honey, at other times some preserves. All options are good.

Learned to like them from my mother. She made them by mashing up the bananas and mixing with the peanut butter. I finally learned it was much easier to simply slice them and place them on the peanut butter already applied to the bread. Very fast and I like it better now.

I have no idea how long that pie will last in the fridge. Everyone I've made so far has been devoured within two days, or frozen portions saved in plastic containers. But that's just the way things run in a bachelor’s house.

My house is different, certainly not a bachelor’s house. Been married to the same woman 42 years. My son stays with us part of the time, when he is not at the farm.

Have my father over pretty often for meals. We work together almost every day. My mother died about this time last year. They were married 66 years. His loss is great. Devastating.

We have other family locally. So our house is not quiet. hee hee hee

After two marriages, I enjoy the peace and quiet ... I can always go visit the grandkids and get a dose of chaos in motion.

Right on. We play the recycle game at home for one reason. My town charges for trash by the bag. Recycling is free but there is absolutely no way in the world I’m using my resources that I pay for (water) to clean out trash.

I also love peace & quiet.

I live in the middle of “The Big Nothing”.

hee hee hee

Clear skies, open spaces, few people, good neighbors.

From the house at the farm, it is a mile to the nearest neighbor.

Peanut butter on sliced bananas with no bread is the only way to go.

Exactly. Just put it in a tub like whipped butter. Fancy containers only raise the price.
